You get what you pay for
Let me start off by saying that this location is great. It was perfectly situated in the middle of Times Square and Central Park. The NRQW subway access was great as well. Check in and out was fast and friendly. The housekeeping was friendly and attentive. I believe the hotel rating itself refers to the available "common areas" though. There were 3 very nice bars attached to the hotel, albeit the drinks were $$$. The actual room itself was just okay. I stayed in the bronze queen room. The pictures online looked small but seeing as I don't spend much time in my room, I thought it would be fine. First impressions were of that of a college dorm room. A simple bed with average linens, a book light, a desk, a closet, and a window that let in no light as it looked out into a wall. Even with all the light on, it was just decently lit. The bathroom was nice but tight. There was a marble shower with half pane. No room to get ready in there though as it was just a sink, not a counter. Also, the fan is not controllable so it was muggy after showers. Said fan also comes on and off throughout the day, automatically. Noise level throughout was aggravating. Could hear neighbors watching tv, people in the hall, doors opening and closing. Housekeeping can be heard knocking on every door as they go down the hall. The previously mentioned rooftop bar music and noise could also be heard all day/night. Disappointed but maybe next time I'll opt for a better room.

Best to stay somewhere else
We stayed at Dream for 7 nights as part of our 5 week visit to New York. On our arrival we were not informed about any of the hotel services etc (there was also no information in the room about this). We were placed in the incorrect room for which we had pre-paid. When we asked to change rooms on the first night we were told we were ‘committed’ to that room and would not be able to change until the next day. We were not provided any reimbursement for the price difference. On top of that, the bed pillow smelt of vomit. The rooms were very very small and the bar fridge provided in our room was not capable of keeping food cold. I had to to throw out yoghurt items due to the risk of food safety. A nightly fee is payable to access a gym, wifi, business centre and rooftop & basement bars. This fee is only of value if you actually use the facilities. The general public can access the bars so this proverlidge fee is an absolute rort. It was advertised in our room rate that wifi and free bottled water is provided however you have to go to reception every day to ask for water (as it is not just provided in your room). They also charge you for the ‘free’wifi as part of the $20 night fee. All in all, this hotel has a lot to do to meet the expectations outlined in their advertising material. Save yourself the trouble and stay elsewhere.

Beautiful stay
I stayed at Dream for 10 days while on a birthday trip to New York with a friend. The staff were so lovely throughout the check in process and answered the few questions we had. Our room was upgraded after they found out it was my birthday during our stay, we were upgraded to a king room which was brilliant. The room was lovely and clean. The bed was so comfortable and I slept very well for the entire duration of the stay. The sirens and street noise could be heard on the 5th floor, but did not bother me or keep me away - that noise is to be expected in New York City. The bathroom was beautiful and new also, the staff changed the towels every day. On my birthday, we headed back to the hotel after a day out and discovered a bottle of prosecco and two cupcakes with a happy birthday note from the staff. I was blown away at their kindness. The hotel lobby smells beautiful as they burn their signature candle that you can also buy. It made the stay that little more luxurious. The PHD rooftop bar was awesome too, perfect place to relax at the end of the day with a drink and some beautiful food. The location of the hotel is also great. A short walk to both Times Square and Central Park with little deli’s close by as well as the subway and restaurants. Overall we had a wonderful stay at Dream and would absolutely stay here again and recommend this hotel to friends and family.

Poor 2.0
Property advertising as dog friendly. What they fail to mention is you can not at any time for any amount of even small time leave your dog in the room. I was charged a pet fee of 75 for the stay I had been there less than 24 hours and since I needed to leave the room I then had to pay the full booking price and two days of animety fees despite the fact I checked out so early. When I checked in I told the women that I was going to a pool party. She knew I couldn’t take my dog there but still said I had to follow hotel rules ONCE I paid 1300 for a pool cabana at another establishment. This trip where I got to stay at a pool party for an hour so I could get my dog and the cost of hotel was well over 2,000. I slept there one night and was at the pool party an hour. My friends birthday was ruined and to make matters worse the woman at the desk I told I was going to the pool party to started unprofessionally laughing in my face so rudely it was appalling. If I could give zero stars I would. Deplorable customer service and the animaties are wayyyyy below par the rooms are like closets with full length mirrors in odd places where you have like two feet to stand in front of it and it’s wedged between a desk. My upgraded king was a literal closet. I don’t have a single nice thing to say about this hotel. I love dream downtown, dream Miami but dream midtown is a low end budget look with untrained rude staff, save yourself from the hidden fees. The room was 270 my card was charged 620

Perfect all around
Everything was wonderful from check-in until we checked out. Our flight was canceled due to weather so with proof of cancellation we weren't charged for the first night. We arrived early the next day and they let us have an early check-in. Clean and a good-sized room for NY. Bathroom/Shower was large. Walking distance to Central Park and Times Square but far enough from Times Square to not hear all the noise. Bellman told us about their car service which was less than an uber and taxi. Held our bags all day before we caught our flight. Two restaurants were great for dinner and a nightcap. Beautiful terrace bar. We have stayed in NY many times but this was just perfect. Our priorities when reserving a Hotel are Cleanliness, Saftey, atmosphere, location. All were perfect. Absolutely will stay here again.
