Fabulous location and decor
Beautiful hotel. Rooms small but clean and comfy. Friendly staff. Centrally located.

Unique and fun experience
You need to understand what kind of place this is so as to not be disappointed: this is not a large, luxurious hotel. This is a fun, small, New Orleans Hotel Bar experience in the heart of downtown T.O. It more akin to a college dormitory with the shared bathroom/washroom accommodations but this is just part of the fun. You're here to crash after a day/night of fun, the room is the smallest part of the experience. Go explore the nearby shops and restaurants and in the evening grab a drink and some food right below your room and listen to a few live bands and dance the night away. Had enough fun for the night? Your room is waiting for you right upstairs :-) Too fun not to do again, will be back

Clean, Convenient & Comfortable in a Great Hood!!
We always stay at The Rex when we can get a room with a private bathroom. Amazing location, cool atmosphere, great staff - all at a very reasonable price. Never had any issues with noise from the restaurant / bar on the ground floor. Even the larger rooms are still on the small side but always clean and comfy and hopefully you're not spending much time in your room when you are in such a great downtown location!

Room and shared bathroom weren’t very clean.

All-round excellent
Everything was first-rate. Special bonus is the downstairs jazz club... the music can be heard in the first-floor room, and to be serenaded to sleep by LIVE music was a special treat :)

Too Loud, Too Late
I knew the Rex was above a jazz club, and that the rooms are very small. I'm a musician, enjoyed the music overall BUT it consistently went an hour or more beyond the time it was supposed to stop (midnight, went to 1am+). Then, very early morning loud street/traffic noise = only a few hours of sleep each night(yes, even with ear plugs). Not good. The shower has a thrown-together, MacGyvered design with bath spout six inches from the floor, in addition to the shower head (the spout has no function). Will not stay there again.

Near all the good stuff
We only stayed here one night but the arriving staff and the leaving staff were friendly and nice it was right downtown close to everything we wanted to see was a last-minute book but glad we did. It is located above the jazz and blues bar was afraid that the noise would keep us awake but our hotel room was at the end of Hall never heard a peep

cleanliness is questionable
there was hair in the drain of the shower - had the bathroom even been cleaned after the last guest?? yuck! I complained and the person at the front desk said that they'd alert the manager. They apologized (she was very nice!) but there wasn't an offer to put us in a different (clean) room, a comp, nothing. gross.
