Great location and facilties
We arrived at the hotel at 12pm, but the room wasn't ready to check into until 2pm. We were offered a safe place to leave our suit cases by the very pleasant reception staff, so we could go out and explore the Old town of Riga. When we eventually returned to the hotel mid-afternoon and checked in we were pleased with the room size (as we'd upgraded to a superior room). Room had 2 comfy seats and table, a desk and chair, double wardrobe with iron, ironing board and a safe. There were a couple of pairs of orange ear plugs on the bedside cabinet that amused us initially... The room had a patio doors leading to a balcony, but we didn't spend much time on as it was -2 degrees (early December). We did notice the building works going on adjacent to the hotel but thought nothing of it initially until the next morning when we were woken at 8:30am by loud machinery it then dawned on us why the ear plugs were placed on the bed side cabinets. The regulated hammering every morning which went on until well into the evening could've been viewed as an alarm clock of sorts, but when you want a lie in being away on holiday this was a little disappointing. On a more positive note the breakfast was excellent with a multinational buffet with a selection to suit those who like a bacon, egg, beans etc. or cereals. There was a mass array of breads, croissants, cheeses, fruits. Hot drinks came from a self-service machine and chilled prosecco was available which went down well with my good lady.

Fantastic location in the Old Town
This hotel is in a fantastic location in the Old Town of Riga. The main disappointment was that two large parties arrived at the same time and there was only one check-in clerk who did his best to deal with the situation - my hat goes off to him! It took over an hour to check-in the 11 people in my party. However, this was mainly due to the fact that a leaving customer could not get his car out of the car park. They still have a Soviet era approach as there were other people available to help their colleague but they said it wasn't their job to do so! Despite all this the rest of the hotel was fine. I felt the room was a little on the small side as it was a double - we all booked individual rooms and were glad to have done so. They were fine for individual occupancy, clean tidy and there were plenty of extras such as mini bar, kettle and coffee etc. The rooms were cleaned on a daily basis - even Sunday. The staff were excellent and the service was top notch. The continental breakfast was more than that and was excellent and plentiful. I would definitely stay here again as the main bars and restaurants are all within 10 minutes walk or less from the hotel.

Great location but room disappoints
We booked a double room which had all the facilities you need including hairdryer, great shower, iron and ironing board the only problem was the room was very small. It was very hard to get around between two people, especially when we were both trying to get ready on an evening. The extractor fan didn’t work either in the bathroom so the whole room became very steamed up and sticky. We could open a window but the windows are directly opposite local’s apartments so standing in a towel with the window open was not ideal. I asked the staff and manager about getting it fixed but they didn’t offer to do anything and we’re quite unhelpful. The cleaning staff are great but the reception didn’t seem to know much about the tourist places to go and were not that friendly. If you go here I would recommend you go for a high spec room with more space. We were hardly in our room because we were sight seeing but it makes a big difference having a comfortable room to come back to.

Exceptional 10.0
A great long weekend break in Riga
A warm and friendly hotel close to the Old Town and all its tourist attractions. Plenty of very good restaurants within easy reach too. (This was important to me as I struggle to walk too far these days thanks to arthritis and dodgy knees!!) The staff were always friendly and helpful (and so were the guests!) The breakfast was superb with plenty of options to suit every taste. The room was fine although the double bed was a tight fit! There was a good standard of cleanliness throughout especially the bathroom. A slightly larger shower would have been a bonus. The reception staff and bar staff were invariably polite, cheerful, friendly and helpful with a good knowledge of English. All in all this was a wonderful experience shared with friends and we have plenty of very good memories to take home!

Good location, pleasant hotel
Good location for the old town, bus station and train station and close to lots of restaurants and bars. Nice lobby and good decoration throughout. Our room was nice but we booked a standard to ensure it wasn't too small after reading other reviews. Unfortunately the room did not have a nice view - it overlooked what appeared to be an almost derelict building used for musical band practice or possibly a hostel. Mini bar was a major disappointment as it was not a fridge and didn't cool anything. We asked as we believe it not to be working and were told they were not fridges and if we wanted to buy drinks from minibar, we could ask the bar for ice! Never come across that before. Breakfast was excellent and the food was always replenished and breakfast staff very good. Generally a good hotel with good room amenities including a safe and kettle. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend and stay there again if we return to Riga.
