Profile: Pelourinho

Profile: Pelourinho

Pelourinho, also known as Pelô, is a historic neighborhood in western Salvador and a UNESCO-declared World Heritage Site. Home to the largest concentration of baroque architecture in the Americas, history buffs will adore wandering the cobblestone streets to see the area's famous and magnificent churches. The area is rich with modern culture: schools of music, dance, and capoeira are jammed into restored, pastel-colored 17th and 18th century buildings.

Trendy boutiques and outdoor cafés await; drink a cachaça in the Cravinho bars. For some sultry Brazilian music, explore the city after dark and experience the musical tradition known as Tuesday's Blessings.

    AMAZING hotel and wonderful staff!!!

Everything about our stay exceeded any expectations I had going into the trip. I'm a current Hilton Diamond and Bonvoy-Marriott Titanium and stay in hotels for about 1/3 of every year. Going to a boutique style hotel was a bit of a leap for me because every time that I've tried to go outside of my loyalty programs I've been disappointed. However, everything about this stay was as perfect as it could have been. Didier and Gilles welcomed us the same as if we were visiting their home. I guess it sort of is, as I believe the property only has ten rooms. The check-in process was seamless...most of it was done prior to arrival because of their excellent communication. Our bags were taken to our room for us, which was great because there were only stairs to get us there. :) The room was spacious and comfortable. The bed was HUGE (probably the size of two king beds) and the bathroom and rainfall shower were much better than expected. The breakfast each morning was outstanding...fresh fruit, made to order eggs and breakfast meats, wonderful pastries, and outstanding service. The one night we ate dinner at the hotel was also a remarkable experience! The pool is small...not for swimming...but the views were great! If my girlfriend and I ever return to Salvador this will be the only hotel we book.

We had the pleasure to stay at this hidden gem for 2 nights. We were pleasantly surprised on how comfortable and warm it felt from the minute we walked in. The hotel is super clean, comfortable and it has impeccable service. They offer an incredible and extensive breakfast. The restaurants offers authentic regional food as well as international favorites, the food is simply delicious. The flavors are well balanced and flavorful. The bar and pool overlooks the bay and it feels amazing to have skit outside with a nice bottle of wine or cocktail and enjoy the view and atmosphere. We were truly enchanted by the coziness of the place and how welcome we felt by the owners and staff. I recommend this place wholeheartedly and we’ll definitely be staying here again next time we visit the Pelourinho.

Casa do Amarelindo is the perfect boutique hotel in the very heart of Salvador's historic center. Checking in and out was a breeze. The hotel is very well-appointed and clean. The included breakfast was healthy, tasty and sufficient. We also enjoyed dinner there as well as at other places recommended by staff within easy walking distance. Wifi functions well. Requesting a quiet room guaranteed sound sleep in this vibrant urban setting. We traveled with another couple and all agreed it would be our 1st choice next trip!

Location was right in the Pelourinho, very convenient. We could sit in the open lobby and watch the street life, which is in Carnaval mode now. Our room was great, with a balcony overlooking the bay. Huge bed snd shower!

i stayed here with my husband and a 15 month old baby for 3 nights and all i can say is - AMAZING!!! The location is just so perfect, you right at the main squares. The customer service is amazing. They offered us two caiprinhas as welcome drinks. The room had a beautiful view of the All saints Bay. Our room had calidornia King bed!! You can have food at the swimming pool as well. And my oh my their food!! Letr me start with breakfast. They dont do the usual buffet style breakfast. They make fresh food for you (freshly cut fruits, fresh fruit juice, eggs howver you want, coffee, fresh breads, carrot cake, banana cake....etc.). Then comes their regular meals - delicious. Honestly the best meals we have on our 10 day trip in Brazil. I can say this enough.. but just book this place if you are coming to Salvador. They are amazing!!

    Salvador trip

Great little boutique hotel, love the location in the old town. The staff were always helpful and friendly, the owners presence visible and also very nice guy. The first night we could hear the music from across the street however it didn’t bother us. We definitely book again.

    Wonderful Casa Amarelindo!

Staff, front desk and restaurant, was very helpful and friendly. Hotel is very well located. Rooms in the back were quiet, even though the street in front of the hotel is very busy with music and pedestrians. The bed was very comfortable and the room was spacious (including a large bathroom). Staff was very accommodating and patient with our questions and inquiries. I would highly recommend this hotel!
