Friendly and helpful managers
The reception area was welcoming and the lady checking us in was friendly. We had a small basic room which was adequate for a short stay. The bed was very comfortable with good quality bedding. There was a problem with the TV which was temporarily fixed for our first evening. However, the problem persisted and we were able to move into another room (much larger, better quality furniture). The rooms were very clean. Some fittings such as towel rails and shower head holders need attention ( I think the managers may be relatively new to this hotel and seem to be making improvements). The breakfast was huge and had every breakfast item you can think of (good quality bacon and sausages). Overall, we had a lovely stay in this hotel and Yorkshire Dales town.

On the whole very nice stay, breakfast was very good, price included a full cooked breakfast if wanted. Room comfortable enough, nice clean bathroom, good shower and more than enough clean towels. Only downside was we had a bedroom facing the road(room 3)and the hotel floodlights were left on all night, normally this wouldn't be an issue, but the curtains are too small for the window opening and there isnt a blind fitted, so the bedroom was a bright as a sunny day even at 4.30am......

Not bad
Room was clean, but the bed was tiny and not very comfortable. Breakfast wasnt provided on the first morning. Beware although they say breakfast is served until 9.30, they ask you what time you will be down and stop serving breakfast if you are not down by the said time. I said i will be down around 8.30 but was late by 10-15mins and i did not get the breakfast.

Clean but could do with a lick of paint, great location and friendly staff, breakfast was cereal and toast and then cooked breakfast which would have been nice but unfortunately both mornings most of it was cold or just warm which was a shame. I would stay again but would say something next time.

Room had a nice view to the rear. Understandably the building is very old but the interior and soft furnishings and facilities are in desperate need of an update. Mattresses were very poor. Shower cubicle also very poor. Slug behind bathroom door. Carpet on stairs threadbare. Smells very old. Bed runner needs to go in the bin. Extractor could do with being separated from bathroom light as it is extremely noisy. All staff were friendly. Breakfast was good quality and we both enjoyed it. Last minute stay was good value, but would not have payed usual price and if we had seen the room in the flesh prior to booking we would not have stayed. A lick of paint and fresh wallpaper and furnishings and a gutting of the shower cubicle would improve this room.
