    Overall an enjoyable stay as a wedding guest

    Beautiful setting,, well kept and clean. helpful and kind staff. Our food at the wedding was delicious but breakfast was a bit disappointing (food on the cold side). The mews cottage upstairs rooms are a little on the small side and the walls are paper thin! Bar prices are obscene! Didn’t get to use the spa but have been for a day spa before and it was fab

    Booked beautiful deluxe room but it was above a very noisy wedding party and so we had to move to a less impressive but quieter room with no safe which had seen better days. However, all the staff were very obliging and efficient, the spa facilities good and the food in the restaurant excellent.

    Perfect Engagement Celebration

    Every moment of our stay was phenomenal. Amazing surprise organised in advance for the room & then the receptionist in the spa giving us a special gift too. Time of our lives in absolute luxury. Queues and a wait for breakfasts but we were in no rush. Dinner was first class too. Dream stay! Our favourite place.

    Would expect better from Champneys brand!

    Problem with original treatment booking , Gemma in the spa went out of her way to reorganise. No call from management who were made aware of my complaint. Hotel - no air con in rooms, numerous dead flies and wasps in outside pool despite advising pool guy. Even there at 8 in the morning when pool first opened suggesting no attempt made to clean. Breakfast - vases of single stem flowers on tables, all were dead. Continental breakfast buffet - food on table in sun, not covered and wasps and flies settling on fruit and meat. Room service - delivered in brown paper bag with wooden cutlery. £14 for fish n chips, £16 for burger n chips. Would expect better from Champneys brand!

    Bit of a disappointment

    Had high hopes for this hotel after being recommended it by others. But it was a bit lacklustre, not enough toiletries in the room for two/ tiny breakfast portions and service was a bit meh. Stayed the night of our wedding, had informed them we would be late and asked for our bags etc to be dropped in our room. When we arrived there was no-one to greet us, so we wandered around for 10 minutes to find someone. Then we got to the room and bags were nowhere to be seen and took half an hour to locate them. Tiny window without proper curtains in the room which was in direct sunlight so got woken up at 5am by the sun, and overheated quite quickly. One saving grace- at least the shower was excellent and had a lot of pressure.

    Worse spa break stay ive ever had

    Me & my boyfriend stayed here for a night which was meant to be a realxing spa break but couldn't be further from the truth. Prior even coming i struggled to contact the hotel both to book a dinner reservation & treatments, you can book them on the app but as im 37 weeks pregnant i wanted to clarify what i was allowed all pregnancy treatments are greyed out on the app even though when speaking to them its not the case. They had very limited availability for treatments & the dinner reservation was changed without asking first i rang and asked for 7.15 which was booked then got a email to say it had to be changed but when i rung again to confirm to ensure we wasnt late i was told no its still 7.15. HOWEVER when we arrived for dinner it was the time that they changed it to. Both lunch & dinner was painfully slow & quality of food was awful i ordered a salad it had 2 leaves on my plate the rest was full of tomato & a ball of mozzarella, the steak sandwich my boyfriend had was tough as leather & so was the steak he had at dinner The staff never asked how your meal or stay was maybe because they was to afraid of what would have been said To top it off nicely the pools was stone cold! From the moment we got there to when we left & the jucuzzi was luke warm and dirty. After a numerous of complaints from others it wasnt sorted & staff didnt seem to care. Went here for a realxing stay before baby arrives which was anything but, to not even be able to go in the pool was ridiculous

    The worst stay I have ever had! Checked in at 3,had treatments booked between 4-6 after my first treatment my partner called saying we couldn’t stay as the conditions in the room were so bad- there was an erupting ants nest and flying ants. We have a 6 month old baby so my partner wanted to leave the room asap I told him to call reception he said he had for over 20 Mins with no answer. He had to pack up baby and drive to reception to tell them about the problem they gave him a new room to move to but didn’t offer any assistance in moving rooms I had to miss my next treatment to help. Dinner, the menu was limited because of staff isolating. I had a salad my partner had a burger, my prawns were undercooked and his burger was pink (no one asked how he would like it cooked) no one came to ask us how the food was, no one asked us if we needed anything else. No one made any polite friendly conversation with us at all. There was at least 5 members of serving staff but service was incredibly slow. A girl tried to serve us desserts that were for the table next to us when we had dinner plates still on our table. We waited 20’mins for plates to be cleared and in the end had to ask for the bill & our bill had the nxt tables desserts on it. Went bk to new room and there were beetles and woodlouse!Tried calling reception multiple times during stay no answer. This was our first stay away with baby and it was my birthday and it was absolutely terrible! Told reception and nothing came of it.

    So much promise; Such a let down

    The stay was not good; and such a let down from a property with such promise! Beautiful house, beautiful settings… Poor service (overstretched staff), inaccessible spa facilities most of the time (owing to unbelievable time restrictions set against some people’s rates - not advised in advance) even though we booked treatments and were already there, woodlice constantly in room, sporadic hot water (mews), narrow menu choice and no non-dairy milk, poorly maintained here and there, indifferent check-in, check-out; never once asked if everything was ok. Requests made were not accommodated often and it felt as though that was because we had not booked direct (as this was always the conditional question posed before deciding on whether to be amenable). The place / setting is beautiful! Feels poorly run with no eye for customer service. It was as though, just as you would forgive or get over one thing, something else frustrating happened…
