Awesome Place
The Duke of Marlborough Hotel is an awesome place to stay. We had a beachfront room upstairs that was massive with great views over the Harbor to Paihai. Staff very helpful. Great little bar area and great food. Would highly recommend.

Sweet bungalow stay
We stayed in the bungalow. It was such fun to have our own little patio looking out over the water. We even got to invite some passersby for a glass of wine. Breakfast and dinner in the restaurant were very good. Especially liked the friendly service.

Good 6.0
We have been to Russell many times but this was our first stay at the Duke. Consider it over-expensive for what we got eg a rather small room on the ground floor at the Eastern end. No view. No evidence of room service while we were there. Some slight problems with meals service

Nice hotel but service was wanting.
Great hotel in picturesque Russel. Nice room but a bit small. Balcony looking out over the back of the hotel. No car access from the front. Parking is at the back across the road. No porter service was offered on arrival, and with a lot of bags it was a bit of a struggle. I asked for a porter on checkout and was told he was on his way on the ferry at 10 am (checkout time.) A nice American lady at reception offered to help us, but there was no trolley. On arrival there were no towels in the room, nor bathmats nor hand towels. Nor could we call reception on the house phone because the power to it was off and the battery was flat. Called the hotel from my mobile and a lady from reception turned up with towels. There was a a bar fridge but nothing in it. A carafe of cold water even would have been welcome on arrival. House-keeping on the second day did not replace the shampoo so had to make do without. The food in the restaurant was fantastic but expensive. Nice view from the restaurant out over the harbour.

Good with reservations
Good location. Room cramped with only one chair. Booked room with "shared balcony" but was really a shared internal courtyard with no external view so falsely advertised leading to disappointment on arrival.

Two days in Russell
Quiet older hotel, nicely maintained. Helpful desk staff. Excellent restaurant.

Give a little more for regular guests
This is my 5th stsy here for work. The hotel wasnt fully booked and was put in a room so small it's made me have 2nd thoughts about returning. Previously been upgraded to a larger room. Was hoping to be a regular. Beds are super comfortable and breakfast is amazing as always.
