I've been traveling to the West Coast regularly for work for the last 10 years and this is the first time I've left a negative review.
The water had been turned off by the council and our 5 year old turned the tap on as we left in the morning without us knowing. When the water turned back on, the owner heard it running and was furious at us - we were apologetic as it was an honest error.
Secondly, my wife had to do some work, so let the kids play whilst she was on her laptop. Like most kids of that age our kids are great at making a mess,but we also have taught them to tidy, so when finished playing they would tidy up as they found the room. It was simply toys on the floor, nothing was damaged. Our 5 year old also made a mess with her food dropping crumbs so my wife politely asked for a vacuum to clean it up herself. The owner insisted she would do it, but entered the room and sternly told the children off for being messy. they were scared and hid behind the curtain..she then blasted them for touching the curtains which are apparently worth thousands and told us we would have to pay for any damage.
When leaving the owner insisted on inspecting the room before we could go and seemed disappointed it was clean and tidy with no damage. My wife was hurt and felt very unwelcome whilst there, I conveyed this to the owner and she simply complained about us and said she wished she could leave bad reviews about the guests. I was shocked and am hence leaving this review.
