    Avoid at all costs

Avoid this place at all costs, the way this place treats people is absolutely disgusting. I had to walk the streets all night in the freezing cold because someone else in my dorm smoked in the room. I told him.nunerous times not to do it yet 'i allowed it'. What do you expect me to do remove the cigarette from his mouth and get into a fist fight. I was just giving someone advice on somewhere to stay. The person even admitted to person on desk it wasn't me and I wasn't smoking. I only popped outside for a cigarette and someone asked me if there was anywhere cheap to stay so I recommended it as it seemed pretty cheap. I told the person numerous times not to smoke in the dorm yet apparently 'i allowed it'. I even told the guy on reception he was making me nervous. They threw me on the street and I had to walk the streets all night in a storm. I feel I'll today.

    Great value for money

Pros: Stayed in a separate room which really felt more like a hotel than a hostel room. Room was spacious with a TV and great heating (winter). Comfy bed. Nice service. The location was quite close to centre. Own bathroom was nice although not the biggest. Cons: The hostel surroundings are a bit ”sketchy” or ”urban”.

My first time staying in a YHA and I was so pleasantly surprised. Gret location for exploring the city, kind and helpful staff, clean environment, room and common areas could do with a spot of maintanance yes, but I have seen far worse in much more expensive places. Cheap and very reasonable continental breakfast, good bar / restaurant area in which to relax. I really enjoyed my stay.

This is possibly the cleanest most upscale hostel I've ever spent time in. The staff were a joy to be around and felt like they actually cares if you enjoyed your stay. The rooms are modern but most importantly they are pristine. The walls are good too so the rooms aren't disturbing each other on a night and the doors are very sturdy and as a female travelling alone I appreciated this a lot.

A male worker walked into my room at 1am and said someone was smoking out window. He didnt knock just walked in and gave us 20mins to get out. Middle of the night drunk. Discusting. Especially as another room were put out also even though they were seperate to us but told they were with us earlier so had to leave 2. Nowhere else to stay so had to arrange transport back to carlisle. Discusting.. will never return. Do not go there the staff are a joke. Act like its a 5* hotel not a hostel. Save your money stay away.. staff need sone customer service training asap.
