Nice touch!
On perhaps the hottest night of the year we were so grateful to find a fan in our room which made all the difference - a thoughtful touch. The room was beautifully appointed and the bathroom spotless with lovely oft towels and the breakfast excellent.

Great for a short stay
Only booked for one night and had a good time. Lovely garden behind the hotel - wish we had eaten here but, as it was a Sunday, they stop food very early and bar closes at 7. The window in our room was very difficult to open or close.

Poor 2.0
Worst hotel ever stayed in
Burning Hot Radiator was on all night couldn’t turn it off on the hottest bank holiday of the year 26 degrees plus and we had to suffer in the heat all night fan going. Our tv kept coming on in the middle of the night too every half an hour. Bathroom was so tiny could hardly move and the door was so so heavy and loud every time I wanted the loo in the night I didn’t as didn’t want to wake anyone else. Couldn’t hold the door back or wedge it. Noise upstairs and around the hotel all night was appalling, so loud we had no sleep at all that night. I saw every hour that night. Very Loud outside the window so we had to keep it shut, and loud room above us I had to try and walk around in the middle of the night to find out what on earth it was. Our poor little dog was panting all night in the heat in our room. I very nearly drove our 3 hour journey home at 2am we were so uncomfortable. Honestly the breakfast in the morning was horrendous thick over cooked dry tasteless fatty bacon, eggs like they had been under the grill keeping warm for an hour, sausage my partner would not touch and he will eat anything anywhere. The lady serving the breakfast was not particularly welcoming either I am so disappointed it was the worst £125 I have ever spent in my life.

We have a lovely cosy winter stay and the staff couldn't do enough for you. Ideally situated for exploring the local abbey and surrounding areas. The room was perfect and there were extra touches including plenty of choice of tea and coffee in the room which I like. We would definitely visit again.

A few nights visit
A lovely old town with plenty to see & experience in the area. The hotel is family run with parking reliant upon what's available in the town itself. The room was fine, though some closer attention to housekeeping is needed; the route to & from the downstairs toilets were not complimentary to the style of the premises. The food was generally good with a good cooked breakfast. We experienced a generally friendly hotel - with some improvements, especially with greater general attention to detail, the Abbey Hotel could be a great location.
