Wish it was managed more like a hotel not a hostel
Unfortunately this hotel is not up to comfortable and safe standards for business travel. The location is convenient but that’s it. The keys are standard and not a swipe (not comforting for a female business traveller), the room smelled of smoke covered up by air fresheners. The staff was nice and I was moved to another room but it was at the end of a hall next to the fire escape - I didn’t feel comfortable, safe or professional. I’m sure the hotel is fine generally but this wasn’t my experience.

Great value, wonderful neighbourhood
Hotel Ocho provides a central, funky, clean, transit-accessible and comfortable space for an overnight stay. The bed is comfortable, wifi adequate, and bathroom nicely laid-out with a great rain-water shower. As a good-value downtown Toronto stay, it can't be beat. My only complaint: no in-room coffee-making facilities - but there's great coffee downstairs as well as near-by.

Funky, with good service
Hotel Ocho welcomes guests in a friendly, open pub. The check in desk is next to the bar. Rooms are a new take with modern furniture in a renovated industrial building. Overall, the service, food, and location are excellent. Nevertheless, for business the rooms lack good workspaces, normally having only a miniscule table.

Great bang for the buck
Great location downtown in Chinatown, very friendly service. Ample room in lobby to work, meet and eat. Food was delicious. Very cool to be able to walk 25 minutes to YTZ airport. Room was creative and clean; nice washroom with great shower. Bed is in the middle of the room which was weird but fine. It's an older building so you can hear noise from outdoors and even indoors. The fan is really loud and turns on and off automatically throughout the night, but I found you can turn it off, so make sure you do before going to bed. Great bang for the buck, especially for the location and the ability to work remotely.

clean, convenient, great location, no frills
Would be nice to have a mini-fridge, but otherwise all good.

Good value overall
Great location, good room layout (making for decent place to work during the day! Bonus!) + courteous and easygoing staff and a decent bar downstairs. Felt like good value. I really wish that Hotel Ocho used less aggressive cleaning products though – scents were overpowering and the place would feel a lot more inviting if some attention were given to the senses.

The window sill was dusty. Service was great. Bed was very comfortable.

Very cool, minimalist room. Great big windows with good views. Off a main road in Toronto, easy to get to the street car stop nearby. The desk is closed from 12AM-7AM so it definitely had a more boutique hotel feel. I also called many times about trying to drop off my luggage early and no one answered or returned my phone calls. When I made it there they were able to accommodate me but I would have liked to speak with someone before making the trek with my luggage.

Great find!
Hotel Ocho is perfect for the single traveler. The rooms are cute and quaint and the service is great. The vibe is modern and trendy with comfort. The bed was so comfy and relaxing. The area is great, near everything food, shopping and fun! I would stay again on a business trip. Budget friendly as well.

Form over Function
It looks fabulous but a lot of the design just doesn't function well. Having the bed situated in the middle of the room felt odd for sleeping - felt like there was something going on behind you. And the bed wasn't the most comfortable - could feel the slats beneath the mattress. The bathroom looks awesome but again function was lacking. The lighting was dim for makeup/shaving. The shower stall had no place to put your soap/shampoo/etc except on the floor. Only the overhead rain shower worked - the hand held shower had little to no pressure - not good if you don't want to deal with wet hair. The elevator doesn't function after 9:30 pm - very odd. Reception desk was uninviting (a make-shift table under the stairway beside the elevator). Staff was good though.
