It is what it is
The hotel was perfectly fine for spending the night before catching the ferry to Dublin in the morning. We were only there for about 10 hours, so the Boathouse Hotel filled a need. However, don't fool yourself into thinking it's a "nice" place. The help is very friendly, but the rooms are teeny tiny, the beds wobble, the wifi is very weak. Overall it feels like staying in a converted boxcar.

Fair 4.0
Very good restaurant, terrible accommodation.
Weird mixture of friendly helpful staff and a truly awful room! Dusty ancient plaid carpet, bizarre green & brown & beige decor, and a ridiculous tiny bathroom shoved into what was obviously originally a cupboard; the washbasin was so tiny it was literally impossible to put both hands at once under the tap, and there was no bathroom shelf or surface of any kind on which to place even the most minimal of toiletries or even anywhere to hang a towel properly (nor did the bathroom door shut properly). The room itself would not be suitable for anyone suffering from claustrophobia - I am only 5ft 6ins tall, yet I could reach up and touch the ceiling without stretching! Lying in bed with the ceiling so near above was slightly disconcerting even to one who does not normally mind confined spaces. Good things? As I said the staff were friendly, and the fish cakes I had for dinner were excellent. Breakfast was also very good

Brief business stop.
Very short business stop over arriving late by ferry, and departing after a quick breakfast. Comfortable room, good breakfast.

Boathouse gem
This hotel is very warm and cosy as we arrived on a very wintry night and the minute you got in the door you felt the heat. We had dinner there and the homemade chicken curry was delicious and a good price. Hotel nice and clean, very quiet.

very uncomfortable bed
The fact that the staff were kind enough to keep check in open late was the only redeeming quality of this hotel unfortunately. Expensive, uncomfortable and in need of serious repair.
