Duty manager rang and asked how close I was to checking in, I was 5 minutes away, he was closing at 8pm, I arrived in time. I was told where my room was and when I entered the room was very cold, outside temp 6°, inside temp probably the same, would've been nice if heating was on as he had confirmed my arrival. I went to turn the heater on, didn't work. I went back to the office but it was closed and had to speak to manager via outside intercom. He said that someone must have fiddled with heater and that I could reset it by locate the fuseboard, switching off all power and then turning it back on (he didn't seem surprised or concerned that there was a fault). Heat pump would only blow cold air for the rest of the night ( not operator error, I am an engineer). Went out for dinner, came back, room still cold, went to bed. Get up at 6am for work, room still very cold, went to make breakfast, microwave didn't work. Went to boil kettle, that didn't work either. Checked fuse board, all breakers set but still appliances not working. Ironically the fridge was working but not required as room temperature was only 7° . Left for work at 07.30, office not open so dropped key in box. It was obviously a cold night, my booking was prepaid and my arrival was confirmed, there was nothing to lose by making sure that the heating was on when I arrived, it wasn't a good start and it only got worse. $165? Probably won't be recommending this property, would you?
