Love this place - but bummed about stay
Granted we are in a pandemic - so some things have to be accepted when staying at a hotel during these times (like your room cleaned during your stay) but there were some things I couldn’t overlook. Which was a bummer because Arlo NoMad is one of my favorite hotels. The elevator broke during my stay and there was not a single member of the staff doing anything to help with social distancing or there to offer any kind of solution or relief. Waits were 30+ minutes to get to your room and 10 people crammed on the elevator at a time. The line for the elevators was almost out the door. The hotel was definitely filled to the brim. It felt like more people there than in non pandemic times - which was a bit uncomfortable. The same night the elevators broke I realized I needed silverware for the takeout I got. The hotel said I had to come down and get it myself - even though I just spent 30 minutes getting back up to my room. No one even offered to bring it to me. They seemed less concerned about the comfort of anyone and more concerned about just booking stays left and right. When I complained about this I got a semi passive aggressive message from someone in the hotel about the elevator - which just felt like poor customer service. The views in the rooms are unbeat by any other hotel - but right now I wouldn’t recommend the Arlo NoMad.

Very good 8.0
Modern but not perfect
The stay was pleasant enough. Out of 10 o would give it a 6 or 7. Cute modern rooms. Small but clean and comfortable. My complaints are the elevators which are slow, close on you and sometimes you have to wait in line for. Another complaint was that the refrigerator was not cold enough and someone on the 8th floor knocked once and tried to enter my room when I had the do not disturbed sigh on. I was glad I was by the door to keep them from coming in on me half dressed. There are also a lot of young people hanging out there. Vague smell of weed. The front desk wasn’t welcoming just meh. I would stay again for the neighborhood, cheap room and the convenience.

Fair review
I can’t give a fair review because of the current covid situation but there are definitely details with room to improve like the housekeeping and the quality of the bedding and pillows, its was definitely nor premium.

Even with the low price it wasn’t worth it.
It’s a weird time to travel - we live in NYC and decided to do a little staycation for the weekend. This is supposedly a 4 star hotel but definitely did not feel that way. I’m not sure what it’s like in normal times but our experience was the following: Minimal staff but the hotel still seemed to be at full capacity. They have a mask policy but they weren’t enforcing it. There was a woman with no mask who claimed to be a nurse getting on an elevator in the lobby - no staff asked her to put a mask on and no other guests got on the elevator with her. The shades in the room were a bit broken, the bathroom door was frosted glass with a foot gap on the top and gaps on the side - basically it felt like using an open air toilet in the room, no privacy in the one place you expect. They also left a note in rooms saying that due to COVID their housekeeping services were reduced. Not sure about the logic behind that - hotel is at capacity but you’re cleaning it less? If we had it to do again, we’d have chosen another place and paid a higher price.
