OK place to stay for one night. Would not recommend it for long periods. We were a group of 3 adults, 1 youth and a child (aged 7). The bedrooms were really cramped and hot. The main bedroom was so hot hubby had to ask for a fan at reception. This option should be made known to guests and we just took a chance that they had a fan available. The youth slept on the pull-out sleeper couch. While it had been made up with a clean sheet, there was no pillow available for him to use (which should have been stored in one of the bedroom cupboards). A ladies purse/wallet was found under one of the single beds in the second bedroom. So much for the cleaning as this should have been found by the cleaning staff. We mistakenly left behind an Ipad keyboard and when we realised this we called up the reception staff and they were great saying that they had found it and would keep it for us to pick up on our return journey. Overall the place is a bit dated and tired but good value for money. Would stay again but only for one night as already stated as much too cramped for our group staying any longer than this.

Paper thin walls!
Generally this motel was ok, but expensive. We paid $250 for a night, but the motel is quite old and while it looks like it's had some updates with decor here and there, you can tell the rooms are from the 1970s. Also we had noisy neighbors - not the motel's fault, but the walls are so thin we could hear every word that was being said. For example, one of the visitors to the room next door had a 95 year-old grandma who is in full time care now, and is having bowel problems. I won't go into the details but we heard every detail. It really sounds like she just needs to eat more fruit. Being so close to the lake was a bonus and why we paid so much, but for $250 we'd go elsewhere and definitely would not stay here again.

I wish we could have stayed longer
Picked this as an overnight stay on the way south, and will come back next time we come to Taupo. Although it was a little bit tricky finding the carpark entrance when it was going dark everything else was brilliant. (when I say tricky I mean it didn't have great big flashing signs, not that you had to search out a tiny driveway hidden somewhere) The lady on reception was very helpful and friendly. The room looked a little bit dated and a bit "Hi-de-Hi" (for those who remember BBC1 in the '80s) from the outside but it was lovely and clean and modern inside. The pool was very warm, and it was nice to sit in the pool looking up at the stars, but the spa pool was a lot cooler. We didn't have time to try any of the facilities at the neighbouring motel but hopefully next time.......

Hotel is in a lovely place on the lake, and a great walk into Taupo along the lakefront. There was no air-con in the bedroom, only the sitting room, so going to sleep it was unbearbly hot. Reception did provide a fan but this was of little use and just recirculated the hot air. Rooms need some noise insulation as we were awoken multiple times during the night by a baby screaming in the room next to us, therefore we didn't wake up as relaxed or refreshed as we had hoped. The key provided to get into the hotel from the lakeside was the wrong key, so we spent a while trying to contact the hotel to get in. The phone number for the hotel on the Expedia app is a number in the USA (I think the +1 needs removing?), so this cost us a wasted international phone call.

Fair 4.0
The bathroom was filthy, dust build up on the extraction fan looked like it hadn't been cleaned for about a year, cobwebs in the corners and filth on the floor. The fold out couch was the most uncomfortable thing I have ever slept on. There was no aircon in the bedroom (and it was about 29 degrees) and the window hardly opened, and anyway, the splash from the pool came in through the window when it was open! Speaking of the pool, it was heated like a spa pool in the middle of summer, it was a scorching day and the pool was far to hot to even get into, ludicrous! This hotel was certainly over priced for what you got, I wouldn't stay here again.
