Came for Birthday Celebrations
Came here to celebrate boyfriend's birthday at the rooftop so thought it would be nice to stay at the hotel. When checking in, was not given any information on when to check out, or any other information about the hotel. All i gave was my name, and the front desk charged me for the room and did not give me a breakdown or a receipt. Had to call the front desk later to confirm basic information which should have been given to me at the first place. I specially wanted to ensure the room had a fridge (which i was told would be possible if i requested it ahead of time). I emailed and i called to make sure the room had a fridge and when we checked in, the room did not have it. Had to wait over 20 minutes for them to deliver a fridge. The hotel also knew there were two guests staying yet they only gave us one pair of slippers and one bath robe. There were also minimal toiletries available- we had to ask for a hairdryer to be brought up. Which again takes over 20/30 minutes. And considering that this hotel prides itself with being a "luxury" hotel. This is the first hotel i've stayed at where there was visible dust all on the table (where glasses and minibar was). Room was decorated beautifully but everything else falls short. Would only recommend this place for the rooftop. If you are going to pay about $400 a night, please go elsewhere where customer service is a priority.

Great property, service needs work
Common areas of the hotel are beautiful as are the rooms which are really spacious. The room service prices are crazy, which is expected in NYC (I've lived here for 12 years), but this goes above and beyond. The biggest issue I had was with the service. I arrived late a night on a Thursday night (11:15 PM) after a long day of traveling and ahead of a long day of traveling the next day. I asked about room service and was told it closed in 30 minutes. Ok, great. Go up to my room, called room service 3x and each time I got voicemail. I called the front desk and the woman said she would transfer me over. Same thing - voicemail. I called back and spoke to the gentleman at the front desk. I explained that I've now called for room service 4x and no one answers. He says he will speak to them and puts me on a brief hold. He comes back, assures me everything is find and transfers me over. Voicemail. I call the guy back to let him know that no one has picked up. Kudos to him because he was a real professional throughout, tried to follow up numerous times and offered to take my order but at this point - all of this happened within the first 30 minutes of my arrival - I'm done. The next morning as I'm checking out, the woman at the front desk tells me that the manager would like to speak to me in a few minutes if I wouldn't mind. I said sure and told her that I'd wait in the bar area and do emails. I was there for 2 hours doing work and the manager never showed up.

Almost perfect stay with mixed service.
Firstly, the rooms were very comfortable. We requested an extra fridge at check in and was in our room even before our bags. They use Le Labo toiletries and in general, the room was fantastic. Well sound proofed and dark. The service was the thing that was mixed. Bellmen are phenomenal and super friendly - they really were the best. So are front desk staff in person, but on occasions it took a couple of calls from our room to reach the front desk. Housekeeping is not great (even with tip), and on 3 of the 5 nights we were there, the toiletries weren't refilled, even though the existing bottles were empty. We called the front desk and had them brought up each time which was annoying. The worst service though is the lobby bar and the rooftop. The lobby bar server was unfriendly, lazy and slow, and got one of our drinks wrong. We got the waters half way through our actual drinks at our second request. The rooftop bartender was so moody and looked like she didn't want to be there. We went to pay when she gave us the drinks and she literally took the money out of my hand and slapped the changed onto the bar, WITHOUT ever giving me a bill for the drinks, not even with the change. This was a shame as honestly the doormen/security and everyone else made us feel so welcome. Can't comment on the restaurant itself as we never ate there. Location is good and two blocks from times square, though the hotel is still quiet which was really nice.

I have stayed all over the world and you can usually find something you don't like about where you stay. Like the customer service, cleanliness of the rooms and the hotel itself or making a reservation at one of the bar-restaurants. But staying here changes all of that. From the moment I check in to the hotel with Gabriel and the excellent customer service with a smile and the finesse he has with each person he comes in contact with to the service we received at the rooftop bar for my wife's 40th where we were taken care of by our server Amy to the last experience we received by Bobby the door man who always had a smile and helped us with our bags after he hailed us a cab for departure back to Florida. I recommend this place to everyone who wants to experience what customer service is all about. 11 stars for this place!! Keep on doing what you're doing.

Gem in Manhattan
I recently stay at The Refunery Hotel with my partner for a weekend getaway. To say I was pleasantly surprised with this hotel is an understatement. It is beautiful! It has a lovely modern/rustic/industrial feel. Immediately, as you walk in there is a beautiful fragrance to accompany the warmth of the lobby and staff. I was upgraded to a larger room, which had an amazing view. The room was spacious and bad amazing. The lighting in the room is automated which can be set to various moods (nice touch). The bathroom had a shower only (wish it had a tub), but it was large and spacious. Once we left our room after dropping our bags we received a turndown service, which was a great surprise upon returning. I was initially due to receive a bottle of wine which the hotel replaced with baked good from Magnolia Bakery and Maccarrons (do not recall supplier) and a Refubery Hotel (same fragrance from the lobby). All were nice touches. The rooftop bar is nothing short of amazing. The atmosphere was great, which accompanied a diverse menu and cocktails list. We also tried Parker Quinn for breakfast room service. Food came quickly and was satisfactory. We wanted pancakes; however they do not do certain menu online menu items for room service, which I think should be revisited. Coming in and out of the hotel there was always a doorman to great and open the door. Front desk staff knew patrons name, making the hotel feel at home. I will definitely visit again!
