Great for a one night stay
Great if you don't plan on spending much time in the room, has all the necessities but that's it.

NOT staying here ever again
Stay started fine, normal check in and Paid up front which now I should not have. Room was way below what I had expected for $110.00 per night, small fridge that was good the TV was poor the Coffee maker did not work, the bed was very uncomfortable and slid around on the tile floor.Bathroom was clean however the hot water took along time to get to the room and was hard to regulate. We were not happy with the cleanliness of the floor and advise to take a foot cover of some sort. We left the room secure and asked for the room to be made up, upon our return our room was left wide open and had been like that for some time. I approached the manager about it and voiced my disappointment and shock that the cleaning crew did not secure the room after finishing. She only said sorry nothing else. Our cloths were the only things in the room and nothing was missing but really not happy with our room being left unsecured. When I checked out all I got from manager is that her crew was sure they closed the door and that was all, she did go on to say that she knows how I felt because it happened to her once when staying some where. She offered nothing as to a return of some money or an offer of anything at all. If you have to stay here be carefull.

Egh
While not in a bad area, it is next to a auto repair shop. Would not stay here again, regardless if it was free. Outside area smelled like cigarettes and they used random areas to store stuff. Room was ideal if you were running from the law or just picked up a street walker.Things that are easily fixable were left as is. While bed seemed clean, we slept on a sheet we brought from home. Owners should be embarrassed by the lack of efforts put in to fix this place up.

Basic and affordable
The reason rates here are much lower than other hotels is because they don't clean the room every day. Honestly, that's fine by me, I don't need someone to make my bed every day if I can save $30/day. Still, be forewarned, they don't clean up regularly, and most of the inhabitants are smokers--since the doors and windows open onto the balcony entrance, it's hard to avoid the smell. I appreciated the personal touch of the staff--I went down to ask for cups and received two nice ceramic mugs, probably from their own kitchen. Very friendly. On the other hand, we extended our hotel stay and caught them on an off day--no one around to accept payment. Eventually they tried to do so without us present to confirm the transaction, so our credit card was blocked. It's not right in the middle of downtown Victoria, but it's still close enough to walk everywhere. Within walking distance to downtown, and a block from the bus stop. Two blocks away from a fabulous organic grocery store. Three blocks from a nice playground. If you continue down Globally street, you end up at a nice boardwalk for pedestrians and bicyclists by the (inner) inner harbour. Quiet place. If you want to save money, this is the place.
