Space, views, location, comfort
The building and decor are a bit tired, but this hotel has much to offer. The location is beautiful, with big-window views of English Bay, and handy - to good local shopping, transport links, and lovely walking around Stanley Park and False Creek. Downtown is only 20 minutes' walk away. The rooms are big, with a full kitchen (range, fridge/freezer, ample gear) so you really can self-cater, and a lobby that is good for clothes and luggage. The bathrooms have tubs. Wifi a little uneven but mostly good, and free. There is a coin laundry. Staff were helpful. We came back a second time.

Budget hotel, comfortable bed, shabby property.
Fine place for a budget overnight stay before a cruise. Property is pretty shabby though.

Rundown, cheaply furnish, caters to Chinese market
The place was quite run down and caters to the Chinese market. And, eveything has been furnished, Chinese style, on the cheap. The AC unit was a portable AC unit & there is no connection for the exhaust hose...you just have to open the window & stick it out of the window (not very efficient). Plus, the portable AC was unusable because its fan was unbalanced & made a loud racket. The hallways and the room smelled heavily of cleaning products...gagged me. The fridge was dirty. The room rate was only a few dollars less than a full professional hotel. I booked based on other positive reviews here...wondered if they stayed in the same place, wow. It was just awful..and the clerk at check-in was not very friendly at all. I didn't bother staying the night. I checked out & found another hotel.

Overall it is a very good deal for the price. Cleaning service was deficient, but it is the best location you can get to visit and experience the city.
