Fabulous location, fantastic service!
My sister and I wanted to do a trip to celebrate her 50th birthday. She was flying in from Australia and I was coming up from Washington, DC an only had 2 days to celebrate. The Archer was the PERFECT hotel for us! Great location (right by 5th Ave. and within walking distance of all the major attractions most tourists want to see), superb service and lovely amenities. On the first night we were there, the staff brought up one of their single-serving signature chocolate cakes with sprinkles on it, along with a handwritten birthday note, for my sister. When we asked for ice, extra water, more creamer for the coffee, etc., the staff was so helpful and their response time was literally within minutes! The front desk staff were amazing in the service and responsiveness they had with any request or question. They made you feel welcome and important. The rooftop bar, Spyglass, has an amazing view of the Empire State Building and is a lovely place to have a drink in the evening. We did that both nights we were there. I would say, however, that the service and attitude of the servers at this this venue left a lot to be desired. On the second night, I had to go up to the bar to get a glass of water. On this same night, my sister's mixed drink was delivered, but mine wasn't When we asked about it 20 minutes later, the server said the bartender was busy and they would get my drink soon. That's unacceptable. Would definitely stay at the hotel again!

Comfortable Hotel
Stayed at the Archer recently for a girl's trip. I booked the hotel because it is one of the few boutique hotels that offer 2 double beds in a room. We were placed on the 20th floor with a great view of the Empire State Building. Pros: immaculate hotel with great amenities (the turn-down service treats rotated and were different every night, they didn't skimp on towels which is so rare these days). The beds were comfortable, although they need to provide more than one flat pillow per person, and the bathroom was a good size (and really really clean). Given the size of the room, the underbed luggage storage was a huge design plus for the room. Free wifi for up to 6 devices in a room. Neutral: the staff is pleasant and helpful, if you can find them. The room size is small, but that is to be expected in NYC.The rooftop bar is nice, but excessively expensive (again, not unexpected in NYC) Cons: If you like a hotel where you can find space outside of your room to hang out, like a lounge or a business room, good luck. There really are no communal spaces that don't feel like you are supposed to buy food or drink to sit there (save the outside couches in front- those are nice). I had some work to do one morning and my friends were sleeping- there was no where for me to go to sit with my laptop in front of me, without taking up a table for a wait staff in the bar area. All that said, although I prefer a different boutique hotel in NYC, I would return to the Archer.

Nice hotel but....
Nice hotel, good location But staff could be more approachable & friendly. Arrived late evening with my wife & mother, who we had brought to New York for her 70th birthday. We quickly freshened up & decided to try the rooftop bar for a night cap. On exiting the elevator we were greeted by a very large doorman who asked my mother for ID, due to the noise in the bar I didn't hear him at first & my mother called me over to assist. Really we are being asked for ID, my wife & I are 50 and residents, we show him our keycards to our rooms and explain we have left our ID down stairs. He eventually backs down by telling us its OK this time but to be sure we have our ID the next time..... Quick walk round the rooftop, we soon realize its too busy for comfort and leave immediately. Of all the places we visited during our 5 night stay in NY, this was the only place we were asked for ID and we were staying there! Again the front of house staff could have been more friendly, but I wonder if they are trained the way they were with a focus on business guests. Nice hotel, but we would look for somewhere else to stay if we returned to NY.

Perfect midtown location
This was our first time in NYC and this hotel is in my opinion perfectly placed in Midtown Manhattan to get all around the sights of NY. Walking times - Some examples from hotel Nearest Subway (Bryant Park) 5 mins Times Square 5mins Empire State Building 10 mins Rockefeller Center 15-20 mins Central Park 30 mins All he staff were friendly and attentive without being over the top, and were always on hand to provide assistance and advice when we needed them. The room had a great view onto the Empire State Building and had two very comfy double beds, large walk in rain shower fully tiled bathroom, with a good range of free toiletries, a well stocked mini bar and a daily sweet treat! There is slso a free coffee machine with free pods and a selection of teas, that was very nice The rooms are a bit smaller than I’d of expected and could possibly do with s little more storage space for clothes but it’s s small point. The rooftop bar and Hotel restaurant were lovely and although we only ate there on our first night he food was delicious with a really nice Steak. Side portions are huge though so beware. I thought that the price both in the bar and in the restaurant was on the expensive side but after comparing it to other restaurants of similar quality it would be unfair to say this was the norm for NYC and you couldn’t fault the quality. Would I stay here again? Most probably due up it’s ideal location

Good 6.0
Reserved an executive view king delux room with Empire State view. Room had no view of Empire State Building. Was told I was last to check in and that’s all that was all that was left and they consider that a view room even though you really need to be on 20 or 21st floor for good view and I was on the 18 th. I was also right next to 3 elevators and asked if they had a quieter room with nice view. They said no but gave be a tiny room on the 3rd floor overlooking kitchen roof vents. It was quiet but felt extra small and a bit gloomy with curtains shut all the time. My last night I wanted to have a drink on the roof top bar to take in the view I thought I’d have with my room. It was closed for a private event so no sight of Empire State Building on that weekend. Be careful if you expect to get the great room picture they advertise. On the plus side when I complained they offered to try and move me the second day but I was tired, at a convention all day and did not want to go through the room roulette thing again. They also gave me two complimentary drink tickets and upon checkout took my room service breakfast off my bill. Staff was very nice. For the price of this hotel would definitely not return unless I was guaranteed a view like they show in the pictures as their are so many places to stay in NY.
