cute place, tiny and hot "rata" room
easy check in. For breakfast, they have you pick which marmalade/jam and fruit and juice and tea vs coffee you want by putting a check mark next to it on a paper. Then the next morning, it's delivered to your room on time! Night cap liquor in fridge. Biscuits (like most places I stayed in in nz). milk for tea/coffee also provided, like in most places in NZ. Has a pool. But it was full of leaves making me hesitant to take a dip. Hot tub, I didn't uncover it or use it so can't say how it is. Adorable gardens! Good smells from the garden. Good view from our room: RATA was the room's name. TINY ROOM. Despite using the fan, the room got SO HOT as the sun set (despite closing the window shade), that we were sweating buckets. All windows and door open for breeze. After the heat went down with the sun setting, tried to open the window shade again and it was stuck. The next morning, the husband said "it popped off again? It does that." Wish they'd told us that at check in, so we would've gotten him to fix it the moment it "popped off" instead of waiting until check out the next day. Missed the views from the giant wall-sized window of sunrise and sunset, which is what the RATA room is for. No space really for much else other than getting on the bed. There were 2 of us, there's a queen bed here. Woken up by the neighbor's moooooooing cow early in the morning. Cute, but sleep-deprived. First day in NZ, so we weren't upset at waking up early. Laughed about it and took pictures of the cow

Very Relaxing Place to Stay
We stayed in “Rose” for 4 nights. A very pleasant detached unit with great views over the bay. Made to feel very welcome by the owners Rachel and Alby and the environment itself is very relaxing with a nice decked seating area and pool (if the weather had allowed). The unit is one room with the bathroom being a segregated part of this but it was spacious, clean and comfortable. Everything needed was provided although the kitchen area lacked any sort of work surface. The property is up a hill outside Thames and is well positioned however the driveway needs concentration as it is quite narrow and the exit from the parking area gives insufficient ground clearance for a normal saloon car (a 4x4 is fine), I took to driving out the entry. Overall though a very nice place to stay.

Lovely Place, Lovely People
We really want to keep this hotel a secret, it is so nice. But that wouldn't be fair on the owners. This is a special place, the reception was almost like meeting a long lost friend and a small present of some delicious home made cookies, with a creamy liqueur was a lovely surprise. The apartment was spacious and comfortable, with incredible views. At night there is no noise to disturb the calm, and we had a seriously good nights sleep. Our biggest disappointment, we had only booked one night, we won't make that mistake next time. Holidays are about making memories and we will always remember this hotel and the lovely owners (and shy children).

Fair 4.0
In need of a refurb
Stayed for one night. The owner was pleasant but she was distracted by her children at check in. We were in a chalet at the far end of the block and had to lug heavy bags up lots of steps, only to find no wardrobe, no drawers, no hooks, in fact no room even for our large bags. The chalet was like an oven with no aircon and was a bit tatty. The wooden bench outside was broken, which was a shame as the views were lovely at sunset. Wifi range did not reach our chalet.

Loved it!
Loved it! Our little chalet well exceeded our expectations. We put the hot tub to good use while watching the sunset over the harbor. The rooms were huge, quiet, very clean and had everything we could have wanted. We felt so at home it was a shame to leave. Their attention to detail is really what made us feel so special. This was the perfect getaway - thanks for having us!
