This place was very, very clean, inside and out. Don't hesitate to stay here if you're tired of cookie-cutter box motels. Very safe area. Hotel room was nice and clean, linens, towels clean and new-looking. This would be a good choice if you're traveling on Route 66 for nostalgia purposes. A great meal choice would be the Flying J steakhouse and arena, kind of southeast of town. Carthage is a neat town, lots of beautiful old houses, and don't miss the old baseball park, roller rink and other park facilities built out of stone by the WPA in 1938 and all still in use today. Good road trip choice.
