clean sheets in an alternate universe
This experience was like a television comedy in which everything is twisted, bizarre and surreal. But this was no comedy. How does a hotel recommended so highly fail to meet minimal standards? Let's step through the nightmare. One, the room was tiny. In reality no room for a second bed. My male friend and I were separated by a sheet of particleboard one foot high. We had single beds. Essentially we were sleeping together. This "double" room had one bathroom--which was an escape from the horrors of the room. The walls thinner than thin, plus we were separated from the next room by an even thinner door. We could hear a person next door cough. That neighbor came to us, related that she could hear every word spoken by us. Now comes the bizarre. Each of these tiny beds separated by one-foot high particleboard had a "separate" television but by design ONE remote. Turn on one, both came on but on random channels. We could search for hours never finding a channel we wanted. Finally, CNN UK on ONE television, No closet, well, two feet of a pole. No coffee or frig but these would have been extra anyway. Lights were turned on by placing key card in slot, then the games began--how to turn off some leaving others on. Breakfast was good for a hotel "freebee," the front desk helpfully called taxis. I am not rich or choosy, but have lived in 12 USA states, traveled many more, live in Mexico, travelled much of Europe and some Asia. THE WORST in my experience.

Good 6.0
I really only had issues with the cleanliness of facilities on day one. Upon checking in my travelmate and I were given a room with filthy floors- dirt, dust, hairballs,a fingernail, what appeared to be crunched up cheetos and bed linens that were more or less blanketed in hair. I went to the front desk to ask that the room be cleaned and was told they would send someone up. My friend and I left to wander the neighborhood and returned approximately 4 hours later to find the room in the exact condition we left it. I again asked the front desk about someone coming up to clean the room and was told they needed a manager's approval. So I waited. And I waited. And after waiting another 30+ minutes on a manager to respond, I asked about switching rooms. A few minutes later I was told this would be best. We were given another room- this one was spotless. Everything else about this stay was great. I've stayed here previously and it will definitely be a consideration for future trips to Mexico City. The rooftop terrace is a great place to relax. The complimentary breakfast is quite tasty. The ambiance of the hotel is cute and quirky. And the majority of the staff is sensational.

Very good 8.0
Great hotel for a quick trip to Mexico City
First of all lets start with the PROS: Loved the hotel’s design! Super modern/hipster. Loved how new everything looked, the music thruout the day is excellent! The top best aspect about our stay was Fabiola! She was so awsome at guest service amd helped to much thruout our stay! Never had been treated so greatly, not even at the 5* resorts and hotels we have stayed at in the past. The breakfast is included and it is really good! The rooms had more space that we tought which was nice! Now the few Cons: The sinks are extremely little!!! Had a hard time washing my face in the mornings. Also, the wimdows dont open and by the fourth night we felt a little soficated. Overall our experience at Hotel MX Roma was great and we would recommend it for a short stay at Mex City!

Good 6.0
I think the check-in could have been more hospitable. The person at reception in the evening was generally disinterested. The receptionist provided me with a map of the surrounding areas and basically read-off a quick speech as fast as possible - it sounded very insincere. Also, there is as sign in the room indicating that power banks are available at reception - but when I asked for one, I was told that they were all out. However, the person didn't even bother checking. The person at reception in the morning was much friendlier and the breakfast was generally good. Also, the rooms are nice and clean and the room is also spacious enough for one or two people.

Fair 4.0
Not a hotel for sleeping
The location is great and the hotel is beautiful. But we couldn't sleep the entire trip because we could hear everything. There's like a 3" gap in the hotel doors so there's absolutely no soundproofing. We could hear our neighbors uh... enjoying each other... all night. There are no windows in the rooms so you feel like you're in a prison cell. The Wi-Fi barely worked. Housekeeping never restocked the toilet paper so we'd always have to run down and ask the front desk for more. The breakfast was awful, they offered cold scrambled eggs, cold refried beans, stale tortilla chips, and super sugary cheap orange juice. We could have looked past all of the drawbacks if we had only gotten a good night's rest, but NOPE, not a wink.
