Nice place to stay
Last minute stop in Sedgefield. Warm and friendly welcome, nice size room, warm and comfy - very good shower. Excellent range of food, tasty and hearty. Good breakfast.

Comfortable stay. Quaint old world country inn
Comfortable room in a quaint old style country inn. Food and restaurant were good and the staff friendly and helpful. The only issues for me was that the internet did not work in my room and I had to do downstairs to the bar or restaurant to get access to it. Seems they are aware of the issue and a staff member told me that they are upgrading all their internet caking within the next couple of weeks.

Welcoming place to stay
Good location for getting to England’s cricket at Chester-Le-Street. All the staff were smiling and helpful. Top notch chilli con carne!

Fair 4.0
Disappointingly below average.
I chose this hotel for location in proximity to Durham for a University visit with my son. I can only assume the price and been hiked in lieu of the Cricket World Cup match the following day, simply because the price paid did not reflect what I'd expect for the money. I have stayed at numerous locations with the Ibis chain for less than paid here with far superior accomodations. I also chose this location for my son and I because of the recommended restaurant, but was deeply disappointed to learn the "main" restaurant was reservation only and the only option was in the general bar area. Not a big thing you may say until you're then informed that the restaurant menu was unavailable and the only choices for an evening meal were the leftover portions from the "Sunday Lunch" menu and even those were limited because some had sold out. The fare was average at best with the roast potatoes and parsnips dry and forlorn remnants from the lunchtime crowd! The room itself was ok, although the duvets were enormously heavy and unbearable to sleep under. The main room curtain was paper thin so much so that at 4:15am it was almost like no curtain at all and unfortunately the shower pressure was painfully slow that it took almost 10 minutes to shower properly. I rarely write this type of review, but i this circumstance feel that overall I certainly did not receive value for money as a first time user of Hotels.com or this hotel.

Little gem
Good value, great food and excellent service. Will return.

Overall my stay was very good. The room was fine, the staff were friendly, there was an excellent restaurant, the location was good. Two small niggles: the music from the ar area was quite loud in the bedroom and I couldn't access the wifi from the room and needed to go down to the bar but not a major problem.

Enjoyable stay
I travel on business regularly I experienced excellent friendly helpful service from all staff at the Duncow . Food Menu in restaurant is extensive and quality was really good The rooms are characterful and yes there is some music noise from the pub below until about 11.00 but this was not excessive and after all you kind of know this may be the case when you book
