NEVER AGAIN - trip from hell
The Staff was so rude to my wife and I...I had only there maybe about 2 hours to when I was approach by staff to TURN OFF MY SHIT MUSIC. I have never experience this in all my travels. I picked up a left. I will never do business with people like this again. Also, our room as not what we say in advertised pictures. It a hook, false advertising.

Disappointed
We stayed in Garden Room. Not so good. Bed was a rock, ceiling lights wouldnt work. Overall room was not clean. After 1 night checked out. Manager said oceanfront rooms are better. Offered to show us in case we wished to change rooms. We declined so cant advise on those. We were disappointed. Went to snorkel and would have been a great place for that.

Great little spot
This is a small, quiet hotel, great for those who want to get away from noise, people and traffic!

Low key, unpretentious, beautiful. Perfect
Maria’s is on the southern end of the island, wonderfully distant from the drunken-sunburnt-gringo scene in the center and north beach. I absolutely love it here. Quiet, beautiful low key rooms, beautiful beach and views, and the service is awesome. This is not an all-inclusive resort. This is feeling like you suddenly moved to some place insanely beautiful and don’t know how you got there, but it’s easy and perfect. Very reasonable rates during my stay. I stayed in room 3 and then in room 10, which is higher end and has a direct view overnight the Caribbean; both were beautiful but I actually preferred 3. Super cozy. I come to the Cancun/Cozumel/playa area fairly frequently to dive, and in my experience Maria’s is a gem. (Diving on isla mujeres not so much, imho, but that’s for anothe forum.) Will definitely, definitely be back! Thank you Ana, Theresa, Angel, Luis and Barge!

This is not the place to bring very young children. Though they advertised a family suite, there were no high chairs at the restaurant, and the continental breakfast did not include food for our 1- and 3-year-olds. I’m not saying there wasn’t kid-friendly-food, I’m saying they literally didn’t serve any juice or bread to the kids — just the adults. We had to hand our drinks over to our kids and request more bread every single day we were there. There was a clear lack of interest in catering to guests with young children, which didn’t make a ton of business sense to me because unhappy children make for pretty annoying guests! If you don’t want kids at your hotel, just have a no kids policy! No other major complaints, but it felt pretty overpriced for being rundown in appearance, with spotty internet and only ocassional hot water. Also not the best part of the island to stay, there are no businesses in walking distance.

Disappointing
Let me start by saying the staff were great and the beach is fantastic. The staff tried to correct the issues as best they could. Our first room was infested with ants and eggs. It also had a stray cockroach. They did switch us to a different room when I said I was allergic to ant bites. The second room had no ants but I did find another stray cockroach. The showers had separate controls for hot and cold water. When you turned on the cold, there was none. This meant the showers were scalding hot - literally. We had the same issue in the second room. After a few days they were able to blow out the lines and we then had cold water in the shower. They do NOT provide washcloths. We were told to Purchase them at the local store. Isla Mujeres is a beautiful island, but if we go back, we will stay elsewhere.
