Room fine for one night. Trouble working the heating and bathroom freezing. Also a smile can go a long way!!

Nice location and unique setting
This motel is in a lovely quiet location. The rooms are spaciousness and good quality. The setting is unique also. The room I stayed in had a high A frame ceiling and heating it was hard but there was a good functioning heater so it warmed up. Good to have electric blankets and the bathroom fittings were brand new and high quality.

Coramandel adventure
A very pleasant hotel with very helpful, friendly owners. In a good position near the ocean. Only irritation is early morning road noise

Family Stay in Thames
I stayed at the Coastal Motor Lodge for one night with my husband and two children. As we were a family I booked the Sea View Family Unit. This was unit number 1 which was more like a pre-fab unit close to Reception rather than one of the chalet style units but it suited our needs. Everything was very well appointed and nice and clean. The kids loved having their own bedroom! The only negatives I have are that the queen bed was very soft so there was plenty of 'roll together', also the unit was very cold in the morning which meant the windows had quite a lot of condensation but I guess it's past peak summer now so mornings and evenings are getting chilly. Maybe an air conditioning unit in the room would help warm it up and get rid of the condensation? The Wi-fi was nice and quick and the free cookies were a hit with the kids! A positive for me was that the toiletries were associated with the Forest & Bird charity. The Motel itself is a little way out of town but it has a nice outlook across the bay. The owners were very friendly.

Good
Different to the pictures but good location
The pictures on Hotels.com are all, bar one (that I can tell) are of their nice fancy huts. I booked a cottage without realising this and was quite surprised. The cottages are a good size for two people but are very basic and in desperate need of updating. The bed wasn't comfortable and as we were out exploring all days this didn't really matter. Overall, great location, comfortable and safe but felt a little cheated that I was missold between pictures and reality.
