Charming resort near all of the major tourist site

We thoroughly enjoyed our four day stay at Black Elk Resort. The view of the tallest peak east of the Rockies was stirring. It is very centrally located to Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Hill City, Custer and the other sites. The couple who run it are charming, friendly and hard-working. The only negative is that the internet reception in the cottages was sporadic and undependable. Otherwise, it was wonderful.

The setting in the black hills was beautiful. The cottages felt brand new with clean and decorative western decor. Hot coffee was free - beer and wine to purchase. It was an adorable little haven !!!!!

    Great Hill City getaway

We had a wonderful time in our little cottage. We even spent a whole day resting there as part of our long honeymoon, and we could hit the store in Hill City for some snacks, sit on the swing under the tree to read, and chill on our little deck. The owners are super-friendly and helpful, and there is a but of community in the evenings around the fire if you want it. The shower is a little small, if you’re a big person, but other than that the cottage was comfortable. My husband loved that they have a little bar on-site as well!

We really enjoyed how Dan and Lora made us feel like good friends. They did it with everyone. Just a great place. The cottages were so comfortable and clean. Had a wonderful stay and enjoyed their company and conversation while having a beer. Which i do not like beer but they had a great one on tap. It was very close to what we wanted to see and get to a town close by. We just LOVED it. Thank you so much

We stayed in a cabin for two nights. The location is perfect if you want to see the black hills, Mount Rushmore and Custer state park. Our cabin was perfect, absolutely adorable and spotless. The owners, Lora and Dan, we’re so friendly and accommodating. They treated us like family. When we come back to the beautiful area, we will absolutely stay here again.

Best Little Gem in the Black Hills

Dan and Lora are so welcoming and worked very hard to ensure our stay was incredible. We can’t say enough good things about this couple or the resort that they maintain and manage! We fell in love with the surrounding area and are sure to return time and time again. We will always be staying at the Black Elk Resort! The cottages (we saw several of the unoccupied ones during our stay) were clean and stocked with everything one would need for a fun family vacation. The decorations were beautifully done and clearly there were loving touches from the heart! We loved sitting at the campfire in the evenings and chatting in the Taproom while sipping wine. The hospitality they show is truly five star (I’d give more stars if I could) ... the finest resort living! Please give this wonderful resort a try, but only if you want to love it and leave it as beautiful as you found it! Dan and Lora truly cherish this place in a way that made us cherish it for ourselves! We can’t wait to go back!

    Definitely stay here!!!

I Highly recommend staying here! Dan & Lora are amazing hosts. This is our 2nd stay at Black Elk Resort & there will definitely be more in the future! The cabin was very clean, spacious & felt like home. The wifi is spotty but I found I could connect on the front porch & stay connected in the cabin. Honestly do you really need wifi with the views & everything to do nearby? It's conveniently located near Keystone, Rapid city, Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse & the friendly town of hill city.
