Cute but with a lot of reservations
Good: Corner king spacious, good bed, powerful shower, dark shades. Bad: Constant street noise (even from the 11th floor due to single-pane windows), no place to put your stuff! (zero drawers, almost no shelves in room or bathroom; where do socks & underwear go?), inadequate room lighting, basket of expensive snacks hanging in full view, tacky "art" on every wall. Some designer went wild w/out regard for people using the space. It could have been so much better.

Exceptional 10.0
Everything was perfect! I love the cachet of the historic building combined with all the comfort and special attentions I could ask for... The restaurant was fantastic with a special mention to the Salatim platter! Great time in LA!

Baseball and tacos.
Great location and nice looking room and lobby. Valet was only $50 which was great. Had a small issue and the desk made it right with no hesitation. Would stay again.

Poor 2.0
Clearly I was in the wrong room. 4th floor right on the busy corner. Awful experience.

Nice Hotel but Bad Customer Service
The Freehand is in a good downtown location, walking distance to great food and drinks. The room was a nice size with a comfortable bed. The bathroom was also plenty big and the water pressure from the shower was great but the shower curtain did stop at knee level so water went everywhere. Though the hotel was nice, our experience was a negative one because of bad customer service. We had drinks at the small lobby bar on our first night and had multiple issues. Please keep in mind, the bar was not crowded...5-8 small groups, mainly couples, and you had to order at the bar so the staff wasn't running around. Our first issue was the bartender's snarky response when we asked if she had a particular liquor...a simple "no" would have sufficed. Then, there was an additional $60 worth of someone else's drinks on our tab when we received our bill. We caught the error when we went to sign so we were able to get it credited right then. However, we then found a $200 charge on our card the next day. When we informed the front desk, he said the food & beverage manager would contact us that day but we never heard from them. We also informed the bar staff but they really could have cared less. Talk about great customer service! We canceled the card and finally received an email from the project accountant three days later, two days after we had checked out of the hotel. In all, our stay was $350/ would think, for that price, they would take better care of their guests.
