This was surely the best hotel in town when it opened. Showing signs of wear and tear (but so am I!), but still comfortable like an old sofa. The double room was spacious (by any standard, not just Japan), with room for a desk and chairs. Breakfast buffet was very good. Great location on the river bank. The facilities felt outdated but still fairly well maintained. Room was large and had a nice view of the Bandai bridge. Got a cold on Sado island but I had a really nice sleep back to Niigata and felt completely recharged. Super kind and attentive staff. Parking is a bit pricy at the hotel but I had no problems finding plenty of parking lots nearby.

Fantastic hotel in Niigata

My husband and I and our 2 friends stayed at Hotel Okura Niigata In April 2025 - 2 rooms facing the river. Rooms were spacious, clean, bright with comfortable beds and linens. The hotel & restaurant service is beyond outstanding - despite the restaurant being closed (that served Cherries Jubilee ), the hosts graciously opened the restaurant for us and their chef prepared a spectacular Cherries Jubilee dessert for the 4 of us ! The Breakfast buffet was outstanding. A wonderful assortment of hot dishes including eggs, omelets, Japanese offerings, Cappucino's , salmon, fresh fruits, croissants and salads. Taxi service was readily available. The hotel is in an excellent location downtown with easy access to see sights and restaurants. Would definitely stay again when we return to Japan
