Not so good. Stayed one night. No light in shower room when having a shower and no lightswitch to be be able to turn off the light in the separate toilet room and the noisy extractor fan stayed on in there too. Bed sheets were clean. Beds rock solid. Ok for one night. 25 min walk to the centre.

I would like to thank the YHA York staff, Charles for his amazing service. He was very prompt in responding to my problem. The staff in charge of the reception in the morning 22/01 was helpful as well. I remembered I took the room card for me but lost it and it wasn't in my hand, the staff was very patient and allowed me going into the corridor that required access card and I found my card dropped at the door. The staff at the YHA York are amazing, thanks.

Unexpected surprise
Hotels.com failed to say that a ‘private room’ meant a shared bathroom with up to 16 others in that block. After speaking to the receptionist it seemed this was a common theme with hotels.com customers. Beds were surprisingly comfortable. Cheap and cheerful night stay if your comfortable sharing a tiny toilet and shower cubical with others.
