    Cons and pros for our week visit

    Cons: We were not told prior to arrival that both the restaurant and bar were closed. Our reason for choosing this property was for those two amenity features. There was some sort of event celebration three of the five nights that we stayed where there was a parade of cars and motorcycles revving engines and incessant honking that went until nearly 2am Friday Saturday and Sunday. We were on the 8th floor, and this noise was so loud it kept us up as late as the celebration ran making our vacation experience unpleasant. Granted it is beyond their control but there was no apology when we expressed concern passing by the front desk. The bathroom is very small for the price paid. Vanity countertop specifically. Hard to share for a week without a lot of room to setup your toiletries and hair tools. No magnifying mirror as is standard in most hotels now. The kleenex provided felt like sandpaper. Sunday the bedding was not replaced , bed not made ( I guess this is the ‘light service’ they mention at checkin)…we did not receive any wash cloths Sunday, which was not discovered until I was in shower Monday morning. Would have been nice to have two chairs and a table at the window. Only had one chair, no table. Maybe add a window bench for seating. Pros: location is very close walking to River, Bridge on Michigan Ave, Wrigley Building, Chicago Tribune building. Lyft pick ups are very quick. Never waited more than six or seven minutes.

    Staff is top tier!

    The front desk staff were second to none. Their friendliness and willingness to help was notable. We had three nursing moms who needed to store breast milk throughout the trip. Their mini fridge was good size and they froze our ice packs for the trip home. They went above the call and we deeply appreciate it!

    Most amenities were not open and if we tried to shower in the evening there was not sufficient hot water. Loved the area but would not stay at this hotel again.

    Location is good; rooms small and dark

    The location of this hotel is fine for the price. It was easy to get around the city from the hotel. My room was small and dark. It also hasn’t been updated in quite awhile — the carpet and curtains smelled stale and the room just didn’t feel nice to be in. My bigger concern is that despite city law requiring masks, the hotel was not enforcing masks nor providing them to guests. I saw many people in the lobby and elevators without masks. Worse, about two-thirds of the people who also used the small, poorly ventilated fitness center weren’t wearing masks. Unacceptable!
