Christmas in Amsterdam
We arrived at hotel at correct time, 4 person room booked with 4 single beds. Was told this was not available and we could have two rooms which we were happy with until we got to the room and, they had 1 double bed in each. Went back to reception and was told they couldn't door anything about it, was then told that 4 person rooms were extremely rare in Amsterdam. I then told them we do this every year and this is why we booked with them 3-4 months in advance. We then suggested that the beds in the twin rooms could be split but, mattresses & duvet would need changing, they then said they had no one to do this it was mid afternoon so seemed strange, we said we would do it ourselves if they want to give us mattress & duvet, to which they said they had no access to them as they were locked in a storage cupboard. They then said give them a minute and they would sort out our 4 person room as booked. Went back to get bags from the other rooms and heard the guy from reception who was round the corner from the room talking to a cleaner, he said can you go up stairs and split the double bed in 4 person room and change mattress and duvet, the cleaner said not problem I will go and do that now. We went back to reception swapped room keys and went to room which was ready when we got there. This all took about an hour to sort out. Not a great start to stay, but hotel & room were nice and staff great for the rest of stay. Just what we were expecting but not the check in farce.

Not bad, could be better.
Overall it was ok, but the room we stayed in was room 106, whereby it's slightly tilted and has some sort of funny smell from the bathroom. Aside from that hotel location is great and staffs are friendly and helpful.

Great location, interesting decor
This was an interesting hotel and the staff was great. The elevator was strange and very noisy. I could hear it from the room at all hours. The staff was very helpful and went above and beyond to help us.

Redefining Bijou
The room was tiny. The fire escape plan shows it as a single. There was no ventilation in the internal bathroom. There are waste pipes near by, in near constant use. You could be forgiven for thinking there was a rainstorm outside. There is a small courtyard, with a large number of rooms, all with open windows into this echo chamber, so you can listen in on other people's facetime chats with abandon. On the plus side, the breakfast was okay and there was a UK socket on the wall, should it have been required. The shower was excellent and the bed was comfy. For the price paid I'd have expected a room twice the size.
