Disabled persons room
I wrote to the Motel advising that we had booked 2 one room family units and that one of us only needed a studio, so if they had families or two couples that require that room they could use it, which they did. I don't know if it was cheaper for the Studio room, but I never asked and was never offered a discount. They put us in the disabled persons unit, which had a few issues, 1 - the main door didn't open far, bottom of door requires trimming, 2 - if you had a wheelchair you couldn't get out to the private patio as there is quite a lip on the doorway outside, 3 - all the crockery was high, so you wouldn't want to be too short, 4 - the sharp knives were on a tray on the top shelf, just as well I pulled it carefully to see what was on there as if you grabbed it thinking it was a tray you could end up with a knife in you - (Health & Safety issue), 5 - the wet floor shower water flowed over to the other side of the bathroom, saturating around the toilet and hand basin with quite a bit of water, the fall obviously isn't right as it doesn't drain away. However, saying that, the room was clean and tidy - I wish I hadn't offered to change rooms though as the family room was nice. No Lake view unless you stood to the right of the outdoor patio or were in the carpark!. Proabbly wouldn't book there again unless I booked a lake front room.

Very good 8.0
Excellent staff and location.
We stayed 2 nights over a long weekend but spent al of our time out doing things so only used the room to sleep & shower which suited our purpose. Room was ok in size but if staying inside longer I'd suggest more living space is required. We arrived late but communications with staff were excellent and they were very accommodating and friendly. I would describe this as an older style motel which has some more modern furniture (big flat screen TV is excellent) but still feels a little dated in the kitchen and bathroom areas. A pet hate of mine are the soap dispensers instead of real soap and there was no shampoo or other bits & pieces you get at some motels. The location is excellent, right opposite the Hole-in-one and only a block from the main entertainment areas of town. Pricing was also very good for the long weekend with full occupancy. I hope that helps.

Fair 4.0
Needs maintenance in older block
Great location with view of lake.Land worth millions, but owners really need to spend some money on the many old block units. They were clean but could use some elbow grease and do basic regular maintence-even if they intend to renovate them one day.For the peak season money per night our 2 bedroom lakeview unit had a Shower stall that is disgusting with rotting formica at base and so ancient, that 60 year old showers in bachs in NZ look way better.Broken wood blind in kitchen.Scratched paint on bathroom door from animals locked in bathroom and scratching on moulding and door.Moldy caulking on windows, cobwebs on windows with broken latches. No plug in bathroom basin with old taps that were green inside the plastic.Outside our room the deck was slimey green and needed powerwashing and railing was paint worn.Traffic was very noisy with single pain windows.

Good 6.0
Lake view but lack of power points
We are family of 4 adults stayed in ground floor front 2-bedroom unit. While it has a good view , traffic noise was terrible early morning (enough to wake you up) & during the day (we did sight seeing during the day anyway). Not enough power points, electricity switch in kitchen half open that I concerned about being electrocuted. No BBQ facilities available. The bed rooms are adequate. Parking convenience right in front of the unit (but blocked a bit of the lake view). The owner was pleasant to deal with. The location is handy to the town with few minutes walk to all you need.

Good 6.0
weekend in taupo
had the weekend in taupo with my two sons, and went to prawn park and the hot pools which were excellent. The hotel is just a block away from the eateries and easy walking distance. Hotel room was ok. The images on expedia displays a modern hotel room, whereas the one we had was like a step back in time to the 1970s, but it was comfy enough. The noise from revellers on the lakefront and bars carried, and also from the flats next door (and 2 of the downstairs rooms) resulted in a bit of sleep deprivation. The noise factor is a reason I wouldn't recommend this hotel, but if you can tolerate noise, then it is ok.
