We had a very pleasant stay in our double room at the Sunflower. The staff allowed us to leave our luggage in their storage very early in the morning, well ahead of check-in time. Check-in was simple, and staff had recommended some nearby restaurants whose fayre was traditional Ukraine food.
Breakfast was delivered bang on the requested time to our room. Whilst not to everyone's taste I'm sure, it was adequate and nutricious, and I liked that I could take the sealed pack croissants away with me for a mid morning snack. The bed and pillows were comfortable, the room spacious with plenty of storage, and a balcony to boot. Both the bedroom and en-suite bathroom were very clean and in good condition. The shower had plenty of very hot water, and was powerful, though the bathroom extractor fan was a bit hit and miss. Check out was simple and not too early (midday)
Some have reported the Sunflower hard to find. I found it simple having used Google street view on the address to find the street entrance at No.9, and the images of other travellers on Tripadvisor.
It is in a great location, just 60metres from Independence Square, and 150metres or so from the Maydan Metro Station. Wi-Fi and airconditioning worked well, and at night was quiet, though had trouble with the room TV (I believe due to user error.) For the price I cannot fault it, and would thoroughly recommend to a traveller on a budget.
