Beautiful Setting
The setting and the Grandeur of this Hotel is simply lovely we were in love with its overall charm the exterior is in need of a bit of cleaning and love but the rooms were lovely and very clean and inviting .

What a disappointment
A facility in the middle of nowhere. No restaurant or breakfast. Nearest place (for eating) about 15 mins drive. I would have been really "disappointed" if I had simply arrived by taxi. The room was not serviced, nor were we offered fresh towels etc.

Beautiful grand old building
It is always a pleasure to stay at The Highden which has recently changed hands. Nothing was a problem and with gas heating in the main building was awesome even through it was quite cold outside. The team at Highden were very obliging and met all our requests without a fuss. Would suggest Highden as a romantic spot or venue for that speail event!

Disappointment from the minute you arive
When you step out of your car the fairy tale comes crashing down. The run down condition of the structure reviled it's self. Upon entering to check-in we where greeted by a dishevelled individual with no shoes and no hosting skills. The morning we checked out our breakfast was served by same individual no foot wear no idea no milk no cups,( we are out of here)

Unclean and Unloved
This hotel would be spectacular if some time and investment were put into caring for it properly. There was a visible layer of dust over everything, and spiderwebs and fly poop everywhere. The windows clearly hadn't been cleaned in months and birds were nesting throughout the gutters and roof. From what I could tell, the common areas were NOT cleaned once during my four day stay, and the shared bathroom was only cleaned once. The grounds were full of weeds and overgrown. I did see one gardener do a small amount of inconsequential work, but the massive property truly needs a team of people to maintain it at it's full glory. I'm so sad that this amazing estate has been left to fade away - I'm sure the owners are very fond of the property, but they clearly are not giving it the attention and investment it needs.
