Good
wonky door locks
Room was clean and comfortable. The hotel is cute. The problem was the key did not work in the lock to open the room door. Twice we found ourselves locked out and unable to open door, having to call and wait outside for help. When we complained the response was "it is an old building". The door and the locks were not old. Ultimately they offered us a different room but that was after we had already gone to bed.

Exceptional
Nice room, the bed a little uncomfortable, light came in under the door from hallway which I blocked to make the room darker for sleeping. Although you were having restrictions due to Covid-19, I still think having someone greet guests at the front desk would have been a nice gesture instead of self check in; maybe consider a Keurig or other coffee pot in the room instead of having to go downstairs for coffee, a little more selection for continental breakfast would be good (however the scones were tasty!). My husband and I will definitely stay here again.

History, hospitality and comfort.
We had a spacious, very clean and well appointed room with a very comfortable bed. We loved the "old world" feeling of the antiqe oak furnishings as well as the original art. Help was covid safe but very available. Welcoming and warm. Would certainly stay there again. If the word "plastic" sums up what you want to avoid, this is your kind of hotel.

I think of it as a bed and breakfast on steroids.

Authentic & comfortable beds
Well restored, authentic hotel - the lobby is lovely - on charming Main Street, Cedar Falls. Bed was very comfortable.

Very good
Perfectly located, okay interior.
Perfect location. Room was a bit weird because they added in some new cheap cabinets that didn’t fit the historic theme of the hotel. I am glad we stayed here instead of a chain hotel though.

Not so nice...
I was seriously disappointed in our stay - it was the most expensive hotel in town, but I chose it because I like historic hotels. The decor was nice, the room was pretty and the bed was comfortable. That's about it. The "free breakfast" consisted of dry scones and empty coffee urns. The bar which was open had an untrained bartender that read how to make my very classic drink from a book... it was not good. Just a weird, weird stay - even for Covid times.
