Booked Verbena, Got Sister Hotel Valeriana.
This review is actually for their sister hotel, Hotel Valeriana. The reason is because after an hour of checking in at Verbena, we were offered by reception if we wanted to move to Valeriana for no extra charge and that it's more centrally-located, which is very accurate. The hotel is nice, very central and close to the square, has stores, restaurants, and laundry close by, public transport run on the same street where it is too. The hotel has a nice rooftop deck where breakfast is served and where you can hang out and enjoy the afternoon and the view. The room we got was so so, with the bathroom I found dark, and the condition needs to be kept up...like loose faucets, slow drain, cracked shower walls, and minor construction next door. Overall, I'm happy with our stay despite expecting more from a boutique hotel they claim to be.

Poor
Hotel under construction, don't go
We made our reservation for 10 days over 2 months in advance. When we came, there were two rooms available: a noisy one adjacent to the lobby and street, and another accessible up a winding stairwell with no handrail. There was construction everywhere. My wife, who is very tolerant, refused to stay there. Fortunately, we found a similarly priced, small hotel nearby (on the same street, Zacateros #23): Casa San Miguel. Our room was clean and quiet, with flowered patios upstairs and downstairs, the staff were courteous and attentive, the location excellent,

Very good
No frills place
This hotel is great if you’re looking for something simple — doesn’t have a lot of extra amenities and is quite small, but gets the job done for a clean place to sleep. We had a room right on the street which was quite noisy, so i’d try to ask for something more interior. Was very close in walking distance to El Jardin and the city center. Staff was friendly. No frills, and affordable.

Exceptional
Beautiful rooms
This was definitely a nice change to hotels in CDMX. The hotel is small but they have done a great job at decorating it and making it comfortable! Location is also great, about 3-4 blocks from the historic center. Only observation, stairs to the room are a bit tricky, didn't bother us expect when we had to bring down our bags: there is a very small section where they are steep and narrow without any railing.

Exceptional
Relaxing weekend on San Miguel
Excellent Spanish colonial house, right in the middle of the town, five blocks from the arts craft market and two blocks from the church, the house is beautiful, small but the rooms are surprise spacious, the wide bathrooms and the breakfast is delicious, the fruit is from the local market and the bread is made on the town with local ingredients. Very hipster. I loved it.
