6/10 Good
21 April 2018
filthy, but inexpensive
The owner is extremely nice, friendly and helpful. Unfortunately he wasn't in when I arrived. I got to the gate and a man greeted me. "I have a reservation," I explained, and he scoffed and said, "No you don't." He wouldn't let me in until I showed him on my phone!
Once he did he immediately left me without a word with a lady who didn't speak a word of English, who got confused and put me in the wrong room, then knocked ten minutes later after I'd unpacked and moved me into a different room altogether. Which was lucky, because the toilet in the first room I was in had a soldier ant nest in it? Every time you lifted the seat the insects would fall into the bowl, a few ants and some writhing larvae.
The second room was ant-free but did have huge cockroaches- I pulled back the sheet and found a huge dead one in the bed, and when I turned on the light there was always a few of the big ones the size of your thumb on the floor.
I feel bad saying all this because the owner was such a nice guy! It's probably about what you deserve for looking at a place at this price point in a town like Trinco, but if you're not very brave and have a little more money to spent you should spend it elsewhere.
That said, as a broke student traveler, if I was ever in Trinco again I actually would go back.
