The room was nice enough, but the local area was sketchy, and there was a serious language barrier with the owners.

Located in a very "challenged" neighborhood in an area of very old row houses. Some completely dilapidated/boarded up, others refurbished a bit. . Many unsavory folks hanging about. Very difficult to find. It is not marked and there is no parking/stopping in front. When we arrived, the proprietor wouldn't answer the door (perhaps the neighborhood?) despite our ringing and knocking. We had to call our booking agent to reach her. Parking is around the corner, quite a way down an alley one would not venture (walk) into. At night, NOT enter at all. Just 4, tight, tandem parking spots. We didn't take our car out but I do see how one could easily be blocked in. Upon arrival, first thing, we had to take off our shoes and put on rubber slippers. Proprietor (Chinese) is friendly and gracious but speaks very English. We had #5 which is upstairs, right on the very busy, noisy street (all night). Had to drag suitcases up two sets of narrow, slick stairs. Beds are old, thin and creaky. Linens minimal. Our stay was 2 nights and thankfully only one other, of the 5 rooms, was booked. There is only 1 bath that we could see. Other guests were quiet and cordial but this could present quite a problem. We walked to the Blue Jay baseball stadium. It was dark when the game was over and we were glad that we made it back safely. There was a scuffle on the street and there are businesses (???) that one would have no idea of what is going on in them.

We didn't realise when booking, but we basically booked a room in someone's house. It was comfortable enough and the room was fine. We had a share bathroom. The hosts didn't speak a lot of English which made it a little difficult. They did offer parking around the back. We had to leave early in the morning and we were creeping around trying not to wake people up. OK for a one night stay on the cheap.

The manager speaks only a few words of English. When we checked in, we told her we were using our car and she told us where to park behind her house. On the third day, we were blocked in by another guest (the manager didn't know how to reach them For 14 hours we couldn't use our car, had to use taxis to go anywhere, and the manager refused to reimburse us. Also, there were 10 people sharing two bathrooms. There was NO service or amenities, and the neighborhood was in transition. IN SUM - NEVER AGAIN.
