Good
Obv tough with Covid but the hallways smelled and the bath tub water was brown (NYC i guess). I've stayed here a few times before and everything was much nicer.

Short but good stay
We went to NYC for an overnight getaway. Pandemic fever. We chose The James based on user reviews, amenities, location, and general appeal. It is conveniently located near the Empire State Building and the Flatiron district so there is a lot of sightseeing activities, shopping, and good restaurants. It would be lovely to stay here again once the pandemic is over in order to really experience this borough. Service and cleanliness deserve a 10/10 for the friendly and helpful staff as well as the strict adherence to COVID safety protocols. We also loved the the juxtaposition of modern hotel luxuries and interior and the classic NYC architecture. I recommend The James for couples and solo business trips. My only complaint would be that the rooms are tiny, especially because we stayed in one of the delux rooms.

Deluxe and comfortable, but no view
I made a reservation for a City-View deluxe room. The deluxe part was well worth it since the room is considerably larger than the standard room and I find the rooms in boutique hotels to be somewhat claustrophobic. This room was very comfortable and the bathroom was small but well-designed. The only disappointment was the "view." From the 11th floor window, I looked out into the windows of an older building across the street. I'm not sure what city I viewed, but it was certainly not worth paying a premium rate.

Resort FEE?? really?
The James Hotel is fine. however, those hidden charge "resort fee will add up". it is about $40/night Is this hotel a "Resort"? What kind the service is come with "Resort"? It is none. But, they clean your room daily. I booked a "The Jimmy Room" which is a small suite. Well, the Suite is nice but there is few minor issues in the room. The Jimmy is make from 2 connecting room. You will think the room a door to a bedroom. you have to pass 2 doors to the bedroom. The Bedroom is a large room with a light on top of the AC. When you turn on the AC and the light will swinging like a wrecking ball and the bathroom is very small for the larger room. however, the living room is smaller with larger bathroom and better sink. The living room also located interior of the building and very noisy. It is right by the building AC vent. if you want to have extra Friend to staying with you. It is not so good idea! or your friend have some hearing problem that might be a good room for them. The hotel has many minor wear and tear from the good old day glory. When they remodel/refurnish it never addresses those. You will see holes, missing switch plates, paint chips here and there.

Find a different hotel!
Cost of everything was overpriced. Had to park in a garage 2 blocks away for $70 (per day) because that’s who they are partnered with. No accommodations had to carry bags 2 blocks and when I got to my stuff to hotel they didn’t even help carry luggage to room. No city view (like promoted).
