Exceptional 10.0
We spent 10 days in Iceland, seeing most of the country. Our last night was at Hotel Grasteinn in Keflavik. We chose the hotel because of its close proximity to the airport. It's about a 5-7 minute drive. The hotel was very clean. The bed was very comfortable. We are from America and are used to certain things. A regular size shower being one of them. Of all the hotels we stayed at, this was the only one that had a decent sized shower, which to me is very important, and I'm a pretty small person. The rest of the hotel's showers were small in comparison. Breakfast was included in the price of the hotel. Not a huge selection, but ok for us since we don't usually have breakfast anyway. The person checking us in was super nice and very friendly. The room itself was sufficient. It had a TV with several English channels which is more than most of the others. Our choice of hotels was based on location, price and most important, a private bath. None of the hotels we stayed in had air conditioning. Since it never really gets hot there, I guess they have no need for them. But if the temperature was to reach 70 degrees or more, air conditioning would be nice. Luckily it didn't. I would recommend this hotel, especially if it's your last night and you need to get to the airport easily.

Hotel Grasteinn
We spent one night at the Hotel Grásteinn on a stopover to connect with a flight at the nearby airport. The hotel is new and it shows. The rooms are large, very clean and the bed is comfortable. The bedding and towels are very good. The bathrooms are large and clean with good fixtures. There room has comfortable furnishing including a sofa and coffee table. The blackout drapes were very welcome especially when the daylight hours are long. There was no refrigerator or safe but for a short stay it was not an issue. There were enough outlets for charging our devices and the WiFi was adequate. The breakfast is very good with in a great facility. The room was a bit noisy with sound transmission from other rooms but it was not a great concern for us. Although the hotel is located outside the main down town area it is within easy walking distance of everything and public transit is close by and free of cost. Although we did not have a car, there is free parking. The staff/owner was very helpful and pleasant - very accommodating about letting us leave our luggage and calling a taxi. I would recommend this hotel to other travelers. Stayed June 2017, travelled as a couple

Fair 4.0
We had a very disappointing experience at Hotel Grásteinn. At checkin they gave us keys to four rooms and we commented that we thought we only bought three. Then at midnight the staff woke up the person in the fourth room and forced him to leave. He then had to wake up another family member to share their room. The hotel staff claimed there had been a mixup when they gave us the keys and there was another family with the same name and they needed that room immediately. There appeared to be many open rooms when we checked in so we are doubtful of the reasoning for kicking him out at such a late hour, the night before an early morning flight. It was very unprofessional and left a poor last impression of Iceland before our flight home.

The hotel is conveniently located near the Keflavík Airport and the Blue Lagoon. The family room with two twin beds, a Queen bed and a dark curtain was just what my husband and two sons needed for a good night’s sleep after soaking at the Blue Lagoon and before our flight back to the U.S. Parking was easy. Snacks are available for sale at the front desk. The room was very clean.

Place for one night stay
Great quiete location with amazing views, very warm inside, the rooms are a bit dated and tired but served well for one night. The hot tub water smelled strange with mould as if it was old and stale. We were lucky to be the only couple in our apartment. Not sure how it would be if more rooms are occupied.
