My wife and I went to Amish country for a getaway weekend and decided to try the Berlin Encore based on reviews we’ve read. Check in was easy and fine. When we got to our room we noticed it wasn’t very clean. There were stains on the carpet and food by the underside of the bed. Not a good start. The book in the room listing area attractions and events was dated 2018. Hmm, definitely not up to date or a positive sign. The furniture was also badly worn with scuffs, scratches and stains.
That being said, we did enjoy a quiet and restful sleep with the bed being very comfortable. The next evening when we returned from a day out we found our room had not been cleaned. Concerned, I went to the front desk and advised the front desk receptionist about our room not being attended to. I was told that due to COVID they do not clean rooms daily, not even providing clean towels. Absolutely not acceptable. Reluctantly, the receptionist dropped off clean towels but neglected to take our used towels and left them on the bathroom floor. Seriously?! This is what a guest is to expect for $119+ a night.
The Berlin Encore turned out to be a fair hotel. Quality and service I would expect from a lower end chain but certainly not from a upscale hotel in Amish Country. A fair hotel at best, but you can do much better.
