Without exception, the staff was excellent. The facilities were spotless. Although the facility opened in December 2018 and I would expect nothing less. be mindful of your room selection, Oceanview is well worth the expense. However, partial Oceanview depending on which side of the building you’re in is an adventure. If you’re on the east side, your view is of the Riu Santa Fe, party central. Loud until the wee hours of the morning. if you’re on the west side, you have a great view of the dirt lot next-door and town. Not the marina area but town itself. Also you can see Walmart from the east side. Although do not attempt to walk there it’s a lot further than it looks. Either side the partial Oceanview refers to leaning over the balcony to see the ocean. The food on the other hand was a disappointment. The buffet was plentiful, with a number of choices. However, most of the food was incredibly overcooked and under seasoned. The steakhouse, had pretty good burgers but the steaks themselves were of poor quality and a little on the thin side. The Japanese restaurant was beautiful, but the tempura was greasy and the duck breast was probably prepare the night before and then reheated. on the upside, the house coffee was great. The drinks were a little weak but plentiful and poolside service was great. The last two nights of our stay, we went into town for dinner. For a mid range resort though Riu Palace Baja California was OK.

Exceptional 10.0
Will definitely be staying here again!
I had a fantastic time at Riu Baja California! A friend had recommended Riu Santa Fe but when I saw an Adults Only hotel in the family, I went with that instead and am so happy I did! It was my first time in Cabo, and I was traveling by myself, so I was a little skeptical about my trip altogether, but once I stepped onto the hotel, I got so hyped! Having access to the pool parties and other amenities at the sister hotel is very nice, and it's not a far walk at all. Very safe distance! All the staff was super friendly! The buffet and restaurant options were great! I like that they have a "relaxing" pool and an "activities" pool, although it can be an inconvenience to some who are lounging in the activities pool and have to move when the activities are starting if they are not participating. The pool area also goes out to the beach at a nice spot and it's not a terrible walk to the nicer, more touristy parts of the beach. Lifeguards were also out here which I thought was nice. The room I enjoyed very much! Room service was not that but it wasn't terrible. I very much enjoyed the sweet surprise birthday cake slice awaiting me on my birthday when I walked into my room at one point. So thoughtful! I was also greeted with a glass of champagne upon arrival, lovely! Loved the balcony area in the room, the shower, the bed, the bath tub. Nice little gym, and Riu Fitness classes made me stay active all week! I really did not want to leave! The staff

The Riu Baja was such a pleasant surprise. The hotel is brand new and it looked it. It's a spectacular design, plenty of space for everyone and the pools are fantastic. No problem getting chairs by the pool or hangout areas. Rm had some noise pollution from the hallway, but nothing crazy (it's to be expected). The beds are pretty comfortable and the amenities are really great. They have HBO! The staff is super friendly and and attentive. We had some issues with our rooms and bags at check in, but nothing that couldn't be fixed quickly. Given the other reviews about the food, my expectations were low. The food is totally fine, even good depending on what itwas. The breakfast buffet is extensive, some things are more flavorful than others... but it's good. The staff works really hard at keeping the tables clean and having quick turn over. We only had one dinner (at the asian/fusion restaurant) and it was pretty good. The drinks were free flowing. The wine selections were not bad at all. If you expect the absolute best cuisine, you'd have to go to a higher price point. But it was great for the price. The mixers have sweetners as opposed to just good ole fashion sugar and I missed that. It didn't bug anyone else in our group. It's also a huge perk to have access to the other RIU hotels, which are adjacent and accessible via the beach. Really a great idea to stay at any of the RIU's given the access to triple the amenities. Wasn't bugged about a timeshare *ever*. Would stay again!

Exceptional 10.0
The hotel since the entrance was amazing at the moment of check in we received a glass of champagne and got to the room which was amazing with a bathtub and a full minibar with beers and liquor always refilled by the staff. The position pf the hotel is amazing with a fantastic view of the Arch of los Cabos. The room has a view of the neighborhood sister hotel we were by the left side which you can hear the pool party on the other side of the hotel , no big deal since we were all day by the pool or out at night to see the entertainment offer by the hotel : Live music and more . The restaurants were many but I found the buffet one of the best option they have everything you want , if you like Japanese that restaurant was very good , the Italian was not my favorite : half served and half buffet I am Italian born and raised and I suggest the buffet . The Guacamole steakhouse was good and also if you are not in time for the buffet the guacamole steakhouse at their left always had something available for a late breakfast .or lunch. I haven’t tried th Indian neither the bar by the pool which served tacos and burgers which they seems good to me but we were always full. The Capuccino bar was the best cause they know how to make a real espresso and they also have different desserts and sandwich in the Morning and all night. The staff was great , very attentive and caring and they make sure your glass is always full... Tip those guys they deserve it. Nothing to complain with .Grazie

Very good 8.0
Arrived Thursday around 10am and were promptly greeted by Araceli at the front desk. She was very kind and was able to even provide our room at arrival vs. the usual wait until later that some resorts say. Great start! We were then approached by Grayline, who was the shuttle i purchased on Expedia. The ride to the hotel was nice but i then found that they required us to be downstairs 3 1/2 hours before before flight time. No thank you! I decided to forgo my prepaid return and take an Uber. Left at 7am for a 9:30 flight and made it with plenty of time left to spare. Here is where Riu really upset me. 95% of their staff was extremely polite but the other 5% were not. That 5% was due to my wanting tp use Uber. The service is not technically legal as of May 2019 but operates very well. The Riu supposedly has a rule to not allow Uber to pickup passengers at the front of the hotel. The Riu makes its guest walk 5 minutes to its guard shack and wait out their for the car to arrive. The Riu employees must be on the cab drivers side as they get really bothered by the U word...UBER. I asked an employee in Spanish how he felt it fair for me to pay $14USD in a cab when the exact same trip in an Uber cost only $5USD? His response was its wrong because its not legal. I said at least with Uber their is cost transparency verses these cab drivers taking advantage of tourist that don't know what a ride should cost. Our overall trip was great, the Uber thing was our only issue.
