Awesome hotel! A bit overpriced considering you’ll spend an extra $300 on transportation to get in and out of the hotel.

Las Islas is a one-of-a-kind experience, so wonderful that you easily overlook minor faults. To stay in a beautiful treetop hut overlooking the Caribbean, with a deck, jacuzzi, & a room that completely opens to the outside - it's magical and worth every penny, having saved money elsewhere in Columbia. The grounds and the staff are amazing - friendly, accommodating, kind. With the price of a stay, you also get access to the smaller Isleta, by boat, a secluded beach, both serene and convenient with amenities like showers, bar, pool, hammocks, shelter, etc... We also enjoyed the night boat tour to swim amidst bio-lumenescent photoplankton. The grounds are meticulously groomed, with boardwalks that meander through the forest. The beauty of the trees and mangroves are spectacularly maintained, with the bungalows and treehouses surgically placed within -as if they grew from the forest. The location is great. Sure it's an hour boat ride from Cartegena but they make that enjoyable and convenient. If you were any closer to Playa Blanca and the party-lifestyle, you'd regret it. This place is more of a luxury retreat in a spectacular setting - fantasy island. They'd benefit with a 2nd dinner option because if you stay more than 2 nights, the nice restaurant does get a little old. The music that's piped in there is truly awful (Find some more authentic music to match the authenticity of the place). Water went out twice, so there are some rustic elements within the luxury.

This is a unique property that had a lot going for it, but ultimately found the experience to be very uneven and let down for a $700+ a night price tag. The good: location - easy boat trip from Cartagena and lovely beaches; unique housing, either on the water or elevated high above the ground like a treehouse; have been at resorts where you need to rely on golf carts to get around - love that they give you a bike; the included bioluminescence tour. The bad: difficult to get a proper response from the property ahead of arrival - their website went down and then they would reply to an email without giving clear details or answering all the questions; food and transfers were expensive on top of a high room rate; room wasn’t ready arrival despite being after checkin time as well as they didn’t fully clean it including leaving behind prior guest’s garbage and bottles; power went out 8 times while I was there, luckily it never stayed out that long; delivered laundered clothes to the room that weren’t mine and even after alerting them to this they tried to charge for the laundry; the arrival was a mess - very poor communication on the process for getting people checked in and to their room; uneven food quality- stick to the seafood. It’s a beautiful property but the service needs a lot of work. If the price was $400 a night I’d be giving it 4 or 5 stars, but at the price point (especially all the additional charges) I walked away feeling I did not get my money’s worth.

This is a unique place with its individual private cabins, and commitment to the eco-system. We had the chance to stay both in a treetop cabin, and by the sea with a private swimming pool, both were amazing. The service was top-notch and very friendly. Paradise!
