Exploring Gothic Quarter

The Gothic Quarter, known in Spanish as Barri Gotic, is Barcelona’s oldest and most medieval-rich district. This fascinating neighbourhood rests in the heart of Ciutat Vella, Barcelona’s Old Town. It addition to truly mesmerising attractions set amid its winding historic streets, the Gothic Quarter’s labyrinth of 2,000-year-old underground foundations are also worth visiting. From the thriving ambience of Placa Reial to the wondrous exhibitions of the Museum of Barcelona, the well-preserved Gothic Quarter will entertain and captivate tourists.

Not surprisingly, this ancient district of Barcelona is also the centre of the city. Therefore most of Barcelona’s public transportation networks lead here. Of course, once tourists have arrived, exploring the medieval nooks, crannies, and remarkable structures should be done on foot. Millions of tourists flock to this intriguing pocket of Barcelona annually, and as a result, the Gothic Quarter has a plethora of fine accommodation, ranging from inexpensive yet comfortable bed and breakfasts to lavish hotels.
