8 Best Things to Do in Pratunam

What is Pratunam Most Famous For?

Any list of the must-see attractions in Pratunam can only start at one place, which also happens to be among the tallest places in Bangkok. The Baiyoke Tower, at 340 meters tall, dominates the Bangkok skyline and is a focal point of the area. That’s not to say there aren’t any other interesting things to do in Pratunam, an area usually more associated with its long list of shopping options rather than sightseeing.

Pratunam only encompasses a few busy sq km of central Bangkok between Phetchaburi Road towards the south and Chaturathit Road in the north. Here’s a compilation of the worthwhile spots to see and experience in Pratunam.

Good for: Shoppers

This market epitomizes market shopping in Bangkok, where the emphasis is firmly on affordable garments.

Pratunam Market has a section dedicated to fancy dresses, with wigs, feathers and snazzy hats. There’s a fair share of tailors dotted around the area. A huge roof covers the entire market but if things get too sweaty, you can always escape to one of the nearby malls, such as Platinum or Shibuya 19. Read more
