We debated heavily between El Fenn and the Amanjena property outside of town. In the end, we chose El Fenn and could not have been happier with our stay. The moment you enter the colorful and infinitely Instagrammable property from a side street inside the Medina (but with very easy access to other parts of town), you enter a secret garden in a different world. Our room - the Red Room - on the top floor was an interior, large room off of one of several courtyards throughout the property. Essentially, El Fenn is a collection of riads artfully tied together. We paid more for the large category and it was worth it. Huge bedroom, wood fireplace, giant bathroom, cozy bedding, and an El Fenn "newspaper" that serves as a menu, guide, map, and general interest go-to on all things Marrakech.
Evening drinks and morning breakfast on the rooftop - with the call to prayer wailing - never disappointed. And given the manageable size of the Medina and outlying parts of the city, you cannot beat the location. Because we were with a large group for a milestone birthday party, we did not eat at the hotel other than breakfast but it was top-notch with a delicious shakshuka on offer. All in all, highly recommended.
