6/10 Good

This property seems to be 5* small resort, and while the staff is generally nice and polite, the true 5* professional behaviour is missing. I stayed in pool Villa, which is hardly a villa, but rather a nice room with plunge pool. The room had issue with the aircon, being very loud, and I did not have a good sleep on any of the 8 nights. Without the aircon on, the heat was difficult to manage. Staff offered me another villa with the same issue, or downgrade to signature room without pool (but with bathub on balcony) and slightly less noisy aircon. Aircon was very powerful and it would overcool the room despite being set to a reasonable 25 C. Not much difference if temp was set to 18 C. Apparently this is know issues and affects the whole resort. Aircon speed allowed only 2 settings, low and high, low being very noisy and for someone who sleeps light, I would recommend not to book this resort. Constant flow of water from the pool provided additional noise, which was not what I expected for the resort advertising itself as an oasis of peace. Both communal, and to even more extent, pool at villa, were too warm and there was little refreshment available. The hotel beach had shallow water, was warmer than a pool, and generally not very nice. Around the resort you could sense sewage or septic tank smell on most days. Pool at villa has small amount of algae that were not cleaned when I requested the pool to be cleaned.

The most beautiful hotel I’ve ever stayed in!!! From the moment you first walk in the door you can tell it’s a 5 star hotel and the 5 star service from the staff goes above and beyond. Everyone is so friendly and they can’t do enough for you. The whole hotel is absolutely gorgeous, lovely pool area, lovely breakfast and it is right on the beach! Plenty of restaurants around to go to if you don’t want to dine in the hotel as well.

The best hotel in Koh Samui. This is our second time staying at this beautiful resort. All the staff were so helpful and welcoming, the food was delicious and all areas spotlessly clean. We loved the addition of the hammock and extra seating by the beach this year. We would highly recommend this hotel for people with food allergies or intolerances. The catering staff were super careful and accommodating.

Having stayed at numerous hotels throughout Asia over the last 10 years, the U Hotel Group has a business plan and marketing strategy that must be the envy of its competitors, and no-where is this more evident than at the U Samui Hotel. From a range of modern and thoughtfully designed luxury accommodation to suit all budgets, tailored guest preferences offered at check-in, excellent staff training, an outstanding 6-star breakfast smorgasbord, impeccable house-keeping, and a wonderful pool and surrounding grounds, what is not to love? A special mention to 3 charming, friendly and attentive restaurant staff in particular who impressed us - ICE, BOBOE, and the very lovely CHI - all of whom made our stay at U Samui one that we will long remember. We would be grateful if management would please convey our appreciation to the restaurant staff we have mentioned (Chi, Ice and Boboe), and also Aum at Reception, during our check-in.. Thank you to everyone at U Samui, you have ticked every box imaginable.

I have only positive things to say about my stay at U Samui. The staff were so friendly and caring. Loved the buffet breakfast in the morning. The hotel was not too overwhelmingly huge. They really look after their guests and it shows. I will definitely stay at U Samui next time when we visit. The rooms were modern, housekeeping were tidying up everyday and the pool was just splendid plus the restaurant at the hotel was very cosy and lovely. Loved our stay!!

Great stay at U Samui and great value for money. The staff were very friendly and the rooms were welcoming and bright. It would have been nice to have been offered a drink (E.g. water when checking in) and when lounging around the pool it would have been nice if staff would come round and take orders instead of always going to the bar. However, the complimentary mocktail each day was a nice surprise. I would love to stay again and please don’t take those suggestions as negatives. The hotel and your staff were so friendly and welcoming. Would recommend!

Enjoyed our stay
Lovely hotel. Good location right on a Main Street. Staff was excellent and extremely helpful. Breakfast buffet had several options with fresh made eggs. Pool was beautiful but chairs were occupied quickly with people possibly claiming chairs with their towels early in the morning. Restaurant served poolside food and drinks which we enjoyed every food item we ordered.

8/10 Very good

U Samui has tremendous potential. What's missing most about this Hotel isn't that it doesn't have a Spa or the absence of a swim-up bar, but it's missing adequate management. In the entirety of our 11 night stay; and despite asking to speak with the manager on 2 separate occasions, I didn't see the manager even once. The F&B manager appeared only briefly on a Friday night, and only to sit and drink at the bar (busying half of the on-duty staff with tending to her personal needs). Non-guests are encouraged to use the hotel facilities, but with just 26 lounge chairs for up to 102 guests, it explains why pool chairs and beach towels were perpetually in short supply. A few points to note: We took it upon ourselves to spray insect killer in our Pool Villa as we were being heavily infiltrated. Additionally, if travelling during the first half of 2023, be aware that there is a substantial construction project immediately next door which was undergoing constant noisy demolition; including incessant jack-hammering, throughout our stay. Proximity to the airport mat also pose an issue for some, with over 30 incoming flights and over 30 outgoing flights daily, many flying almost directly overhead. Those issues could be overlooked, but the lack of management could not. Thanks to the hard work of a small handful of staff, the place runs in spite of the poor management, but a well run operation runs from the top down. Hopefully U Resorts figures it out sooner than later.

8/10 Very good

U Samui has a beautiful pool area. It's a shame that they don't have more lounge chairs and they could certainly benefit from bar service in the pool area. Drinjs can still be purchased, but patrons need to dry off, slip into a shirt and flip flops then ebter the restaurant to place their drink orders. The beach bar doesn't ever seem to be open. If travelling in the first half of 2023 be forewarned that there is a major construction project; including the very noisy demolition of the next door property. Grinding and jackhammering occur daily, all day. It's not at all relaxing. For our stay, we chose a Pool Villa. There were 8 to choose from, and careful consideration must be used in doing so, as several of the villas are immediately adjacent to the restaurant and patio, providing a clear view of what is advertised as a private plunge pool. There's nothing private about them. Careful, because if you choose a Villa too far from the patio, you will end up with trees blocking your sunshine. No matter which Villa you choose, be prepared to have a rather dirty plunge pool, as debris falls from the surrounding bushes constantly and the pool maintenance is rather minimal. Beach towels are not very plentiful resulting in days where no new towels are supplied. This adds to the difficulty enjoying the pool. Bar soap is nit provided without special request. And when you see the pool water, you will definitely want to wash with soap. Hotel management is absent at all times.
