Best communications .
Hotel Canal Aigues Mortes turn out to be even more charming and friendly than expected .. We had a terribly delayed flight from The US , making us arrive at the hotel by 12 am. The owner sent very nice directions to access the hotel that late . The bed is one the best I slept in lately ... enjoyed the wonderful array at breakfast .The owners are plaisant and ready to help . We very much enjoyed our stay there .

Have to say a little underwhelmed at the location - but don't be put off! Go out through the back, walk along the canal and you're in the old town in ten minutes. Lovely service - and excellent breakfast. Really good value, so well done

Great place. Good location with easy walk to the water, to boats, to the old city, to good restaunts. Our reception here was the best. The woman on duty welcomed us, then sat with us and told us about the hotel, about the town, restaurants, gave us a map and offered bottled water. The room is spacious, clean and comfortable with plenty of counter space in the bathroom and fast Wi-Fi. No negatives.

Canal side hotel, quiet and peaceful
Super hotel with very friendly staff. When we arrived, we were a little disappointed with the outside of the hotel but the interiors are sleek and modern. Don’t be put off! You can walk along the canal side to the old town of Aigues Mortes, avoiding the busy road, it takes less than ten minutes. The Breakfast buffet is excellent, beautifully put together lots of fresh produce, and is served on the terrace. There is a small outdoor swimming pool with sun loungers and parasols. There is good internet access throughout the hotel.

Charming quiet spot
Lovely staff and management at this hotel. Rooms are smaller (like many European hotels) but it is located right on the canal - so very convenient if you're taking a bike/barge tour as we were.

Super stay
Check in straight forward. Upgraded to a room with balcony overlooking canal. Room was small but adequate with a bathroom with shower over bath, hairdryer and toiletries. Small desk and chair, flat screen TV and good reading lights. Bed was not the best, very squeaky and mattress too soft. Housekeeping was good and all staff were extremely helpful. A plus is the small pool together with sun loungers on the first floor terrace - lovely. Breakfast excellent with pastries and bread made by in-house pastry chef - delicious! Parking is on site and free. Hotel is easy to find. Town is a 10 minute walk down canal side where there is so much to see you won't want to leave. We stayed an extra night and hope to return next year! There's a restaurant close by if you don't want to drive and also a supermarket within a short walk with a bistro and café.

Impromptu visit that surpassed all our expectations. The excellent hotel facilities and the standard of restaurants. Did the boat excursion next morning on The Constance. Superb. We will return

A night in Aigues Mortes
Used for one night while traveling in France and to visit Aigues Mortes. Lovely town. Hotel 10 mins walk from centre. No restaurant but one just down the canal or loads in town. Plenty of free parking. Not much character and although by canal also by DIY stores and main road (but rooms quiet). However for price and location very reasonable. Staff very helpful.

Our host was superb!!! The only complaint was the bed was hard but the hotel was beautiful. The location was perfect and walking distance to the walled city. Our host was amazing and extremely helpful. I would recommend this place in a heartbeat

Friendly staff, good location, fantastic breakfast
Our booking at the Hotel Canal was relatively last-minute. Upon realizing that one of our party was partially handicapped, the hotel moved us to the ground-floor family suite at no extra charge. While the hotel is located facing a noisy main road, the very effective double glazing does a good job of keeping most of the traffic noise out. If possible, though, get a room facing the canal, which provides a most pleasant view. The hotel was clean, staff was friendly, and the quality and variety of the breakfast buffet was excellent. If you arrive by rail, the hotel is within a hundred meters of so of the train station, while the walled city center is only about 300 meters away on foot. Parking -- not always a given at urban hotels in France -- is free and available onsite. I would certainly stay at the Hotel Canal again, and would recommend it to anyone else visiting Aigues Mortes.

6/10 Good

Quite split, good and not good at the same time
First of all, the location is great, a few minutes away from the old city and along the canal which is quiet. The common parts of the hotel are nice and the setting outside for breakfast really pleasant. The pool is too small and there are not enough sunloungers so some people feel they have to put their towells on the sunloungers early in the morning even if they don't use themso they make sure they have a sunbed reserved, which creates a stupid bad ambiance with some hosts. This has to be sorted by adding more sunloungers ! The urban rooms are to be avoided as really small and with a view on a main road. Ours was moreover with numerous stains on the walls. The cleaning ladies are really nice and do their work well (stained walls being more maintenance work I think). The lady at reception and the guy welcoming you for breakfast are really nice , helpful and know what they are talking about. If you can, do not deal with the two guys at reception who may well be the owners/bosses but they are really useless, speak for nothing and of bad advice in terms of recommendation they make (they are probably ot from the area) ! So overall, it is fine but it could seriously improve by adding sunloungers, training better the two uselesss people from the staff and maintening the walls of the roooms clean.

A great choice
Chose the Hotel Canal on the basis of favourable reviews, and definitely not disappointed. Staff were all polite and keen to help, providing restaurant recommendations and suggestions for days out which were useful. We had booked an 'urban' room but on arrival were upgraded to a canalside room which opened directly on to swimming pool terrace - a pleasant surprise. Room wasn't huge, but comfortable and had everything we needed. Breakfast is the best I have ever had in many years of travelling in France. Fresh fruit salad and bread were complemented by freshly baked croissants/pain chocolat and a choice every day of 3 other delights prepared on site. While we were there these included raspberry muffins, apple danish, chocolate cake, brioche........mmmmmm! A choice of teas was also provided, which suited me as I don't drink coffee. Overall a great choice for a few days in this lovely area.
