A countryside experience within the city walls
A piece of the countryside within the city’s walls, the hotel is located away from the old town. It is best suited to visitors coming by car or to those ready to use bicycles to get around locally. For us it was delightful to walk through the quiet city with its fine Renaissance mansions to get to and from the hotel which is located close to the north west section of the city’s surrounding ramparts. The garden setting is attractive, our room was comfortable and was kept clean and a fine breakfast (fruits, breads, pastries, salumi, cheeses, hard boiled eggs, etc) is provided.

Best Hotel in Ferrara
I was pleasantly surprised by how nice the property was and the friendliness of the staff. My mother is disabled and because our room had too many stairs to get to (upstairs was about 20 steps, then another 20 steps to get to the beds in the room), the owner allowed us to stay in a second room on the ground floor at no extra cost! Staff has difficulty speaking English, but the owners spoke perfect English. The house was recently renovated and all the rooms are comfortable and clean. The hotel is located in a pleasantly quiet area of Ferrara with just a quick walk to downtown. While there, I felt that we had the entire property to ourselves—it helps that there's probably less than 15 rooms in the house and I came during the pandemic—and did not want to leave. The WiFi is fast. The owner also called taxis for us and recommended a wonderful place to eat dinner. There were only a couple downsides to my stay. First, the hotel uses physical keys and it was difficult to lock and unlock the doors to the house. In fact, the passageway lock to my room broke. It was not a big deal, but I'd hope digital keys are installed in the future. Also, the jacuzzi tub in the Presidential Suite was not working or at least I could not figure out how to use it. If you want a pleasant and unique stay in Ferrara, I would highly recommend Villa Hortia della Fasanara.

Beautiful place lacking adequate mosquito control
Otherwise a great place, but - I had to kill five mosquitoes and consequently had a horrible night's sleep. I notice upon arrival in the parking lot that the property is mosquito-ridden; hence, I paid attention not to keep windows open (not so great when it's warm, as there is no AC) - one of the windows had a mosquito net, but I could see a mosquito between the net and the window pane, i.e. on the inside of the net, so I had no confidence in the net's functionality. - Breakfast was so-so, lots of prepackaged things and the driest cornetto I've ever tasted. First cornetto in my life of which I took just one bite.

Lovely Villa, modern and clean room, nice breakfast, friendly staff, near city center. Our suite "Angelica" was very nice, but unfortunately the wall of our bedroom upstairs was very thin, and we could hear people talking in the room next to us speaking very clearly.

Our favourite part of our Italy trip was coming to this hotel! It is a stunning countryside property 10mins walk from the city center with private parking and a gated entrance. The property is massive with lots of seating area out in the back garden which you can access from your room via french doors that open to the deck. The staff were incredibly friendly and kind and hotel management were very accommodating. Breakfast was made and served early so we had time to eat before heading to the airport and checkout was quick and easy. European outlet converters were available for us and the Hotel Manager made herself available via cell phone for anything we may have needed. There were also bikes available for us to use as well as a city map and a list of great restaurants in the area (they have a partnership with some restaurants which provide discounts to guests). This property is fantastic and we will definitely be returning in the future!

Georgeous interiors in old villa. Fabulous breakfast buffet. The only downside was that there was no comfortable furniture in the sitting area...artful to the eyes, but uncomfortable for resting.

We had a really lovely stay here in one of the suites. The villa itself is beautiful, and the owner really cares about your stay. The location is great as it's in a quiet and green part of town, but only 15 minutes walk to the centre. Because of the green location we did get a few bugs in our room, and the shower being visible from the living room was a bit odd, but otherwise this was the best value and most comfortable stay on our tour of Emilia Romagna.

This is a 5 star accommodation, truly!
The owner went out of her way to welcome us, tho’ we arrived late due a truck fire on the autostrada! Towels, bedding, bed comfort, room space, all exceeded expectations. The breakfast, similarly, was ‘a cut above (the rest)!

A day in Ferrara.
We drove quite a bit the day we arrived and were pleased to relax in this country-like atmosphere, an historic old building, a walk from the city center. The hotel is located just off a main rode but it really feels like country with their own lovely gardens and sculpture, and surrounding park spaces. There is a back entrance to the walk inside the old city walls via a hedge row as well and bikes are available for use. The rooms are all unique with modern comforts and plenty of space. Breakfast was perfect. Parking is free and secure via a gate.

Beautifully renovated villa in garden surrounding
It is difficult to judge this property on a star system meant for full service hotels. However if you appreciate a wonderful quiet and beautiful place to stay, close to the city you will not be disappointed. A classy and elegant retreat

well located for Ferrara city centre.
Beautiful garden and villa which had been modernised inside. Glass walls in the shower and the room was quite dusty. My husband was swotting a fly above the bed and found that the canopy over the bed was full of dust. Also the spare pillows had yellow perspiration marks on them and no covers. The duvet cover was not ironed and had marks on it. I was worried it had not been changed as the sheets had obviously been laundered and were pristine. This was a shame as the owner was absolutely lovely and gave us a free upgrade. The breakfast was adequate but I was worried about the ham being out of the fridge too long. Very sorry to say this.

Quiet and Peaceful
We were kindly greeted by Elda who carefully explained everything in perfect detail about our stay. We found the grounds incredibly beautiful and the villa efficiently restored and fitted for our needs. It was a little different to go upstairs for the restroom but we quickly got used to it. The location was easy to find and on a quiet ride a perfect distance from the center. Our only complaint is that we couldn't stay longer! Highly recommended!

Amazing Property
Villa Horti della Fasanara is more than a guest house - it was an amazing experience!! The attention to detail on the renovation of this property was fantastic. We felt as though we were private guests in an art gallery. The rooms were very well appointed - the beds amazingly comfortable. On the afternoon we arrived there was a lawn party taking place. The owner told us they open the grounds up to the public on Tues & Thurs during the summer. There was great music, wonderful cocktails and lively lawn seating. The morning breakfast is wonderful - the outdoor seating listening to the birds was magical. We took advantage of using the bikes provided as well and biked around the city walls and into the city centre to tour the castle and the cathedral. The hospitality and amazing property made our trip to Ferrara very special. This is the ONLY place to stay in Ferrara.
