The Liberty Bell and Independence Hall stand proudly alongside the Museum of the American Revolution, where interactive exhibits bring the past into focus. Elfreth's Alley charms visitors with its preserved 18th-century homes, while art galleries and theatres add cultural depth to this historic district. After exploring, dive into the neighborhood's dining scene where historic taverns serve colonial-inspired dishes next to modern gastropubs. Catch the metro at 2nd St. or 5th St. Station to explore more of Philadelphia, though most attractions are within easy walking distance.

Philadelphia and related destinations
Founding fathers still cast long shadows in a city where the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall remind visitors that history happened right here. The Philadelphia Museum of Art's steps became famous long before Rocky ran up them, while inside hangs an impressive collection spanning centuries. Devour a proper cheesesteak at Reading Terminal Market, where locals debate Pat's versus Geno's with constitutional fervor. Sports fans find religion at Citizens Bank Park and Lincoln Financial Field, where wearing the wrong jersey requires genuine courage. The Barnes Foundation displays masterpieces in thoughtfully designed galleries. Families with young children might venture to Sesame Place for a day with life-sized versions of television friends.

"It was good location-wise."
Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Philadelphia Downtown/Center City
"Very clean rooms, modern and with good amenities. Location is very convenient for getting around. Only downside was air-con that wasn't working. Emailed in advance to advise of this."
Motto by Hilton Philadelphia Rittenhouse Square
"Hotel is in a great central location. Parking can be an issue but it’s also a major city so to be expected. It is nicely updated. Rooms are small but fine. One thing I will say is walls are paper thin, I mean you can hear the tv and full conversations. Otherwise pleasant stay"
The Windsor Suites
"Amazing rooms and pool. Staff is very kind."
Hampton Inn by Hilton Philadelphia International Airport
"This was our second time staying at this property. Its only 15 minutes from the Sports Stadiums (Eagles, Flyers, and Phillies are all in the same area). They do offer a shuttle to the airport, although while we were there, there were other families also going to the Phillies games so it would be helpful to have a shuttle to the games for guests. They advertise a seasonal outdoor pool, but the pool did not have any water in it and didn't seem to have any maintenance happening to it so it would have been nice to know the pool was out of order before we went. My kids are older so the pool would've been a nice perk but not a deciding factor. The continental breakfast was good, but it's best to go early otherwise nothing is left. The hotel was clean and the staff was friendly. The TV in our room was a smart TV so I was able to log into my Disney+ account and watch through that...and the hotel does offer live TV. It definitely saved me from having to try to connect my fire stick to the TV. Overall, we had a good experience and would stay there again."

4 tips for savvy savings when booking a hotel in Philadelphia
- Book for the cheapest times: The most budget-friendly time to visit Philadelphia is from January to March, when hotel prices may drop, offering great value for money. Staying for at least 2 to 3 days is recommended to fully explore the city’s rich history and vibrant culture. During your visit, you can discover key landmarks, such as historic sites, museums, and architectural wonders, as well as enjoy the local theatre scene and live music events. This period allows you to immerse yourself in Philadelphia's urban charm without straining your wallet.
- Look for last-minute deals on Hotels.com: To uncover accommodation deals in Philadelphia, explore the DealsOpens in a new window or Last-Minute Deals sections on Hotels.com, where you may discover discounted rates close to your travel date. By enabling email alerts or push notifications, you could receive updates on flash sales and special last-minute promotions, increasing your chances of securing cheap accommodation. Additionally, the Smart Shopping tool available via the app allows you to compare hotel prices and amenities, ensuring you're informed about any price drops or availability changes for your preferred hotels. This way, you could book a spontaneous getaway with ease.
- Be flexible with dates: Prices can fluctuate depending on factors such as the hotel's location, star rating, and the time of year, so being flexible with your travel dates might help you save on your stay in a hotel in Philadelphia. For those seeking unique accommodations, boutique hotels often provide a more personalised experience and may offer better value. When you book through Hotels.com, we’ll inform you whether the price for your chosen dates is above or below the average. If the price appears to be on the higher side, we’ll suggest alternative dates that could be more affordable, helping you find the best deal.
- Consider your location: Hotels near the city centre usually tend to be pricier, but thanks to Philadelphia's fantastic public transport options, you might discover a more affordable independent hotel a bit further out that’s still well connected. If you’re keen to explore alternative, less crowded neighbourhoods or even lesser-known nearby towns, there’s often excellent value for money to be found. Opting for these alternative spots could provide a more authentic and budget-friendly experience.
